Don't bother going there for service. They've tried to rip me off on brakes, differential changes, trans fluid changes and warranty work. Well the dealership tells you to ignore the book that says do your differential changes at 60,000 mile and listen to them and do it every 15,000 miles. Ya right! If there is an issue that requires the fluid be changed that early, it is covered under warranty...as TSB 07-024 states! And that wasn't even the warranty issue I had. Honestly, with all the bad experiences I've had with Honda I can't see myself buying another car from them again. More

I took my 1998 Honda Civic in for repair so they could look at a possible transmission problem since I was having trouble putting the car into gear from park. I initially took it to an independent repair look at a possible transmission problem since I was having trouble putting the car into gear from park. I initially took it to an independent repair person, and he said that he could fix the problem but could not guarantee that it would correct the problem since he can not work on transmissions. He suggested that I take it to the dealer since they can work on transmissions which is why I took it to O'Hare Honda. They have a $79.00 diagnostic fee that I was willing to pay. In fact, when I was talking to the service man (Eddy) writing up the work order, I specifically told him that I was considering junking the car and buying a new one since it is older, and wanted him to evaluate the condition of the car from this perspective. A few hours later, Eddy calls back and verifies that the transmission problem was there, and suggested the same fix as the independent shop I took it to which was to cost about $333.00. He also went on to say that during the process of diagnosing the problem the technician accidentally broke the cable going to the hood, and that needs to be fixed at a cost of $350.00. I told him since they broke it, I think they should pay for it. He said that he would have to talk to his service manager (who had left), and get back to me. When he called me back, he said that could give me a 20% discount to bring the cost to $280.00. I told him that I would call back. I called the independent repair shop and asked them if they had had any problem opening the hood. They said NO, since it had worked just like it was supposed to. When I called Eddy back I said I would like one of two things that seemed reasonable to me: 1) I will pay for the transmission, and they can pay for the hood, or 2) I will take my car elsewhere, and they will not charge me the diagnostic fee. Again, he said that he could have to run it by the service manager. When Eddy called me back, he said I could take it but that I would have to pay a $39.50 diagnostic fee, since the technician only took 30 minutes to diagnose the problem. Even though he freely admitted that his technician had broken the hood latch, he refused to offer any relief from the $350.00 charge other than the meager 20% reduction. My son-in-law, then got involved since he is in the car business, and had dealt with O'Hare Honda successfully in the past when having his wife's car repaired. He got the same song and dance from Eddy, and when he talked directly with Mr. Benedetto, he got the same response from him. Since he knows him, he decided to call the owner of the agency, and he never called him back. During the course of this dispute, O'Hare Honda has lost my good will, and Honda itself has lost my business forever after owning a Honda for 16 years. One comment will always stick out in mind. When talking to Mr. Benedetto, he stated "Well, we haven't lost any business with you since you never did any business with us.!" Little did he know that I had initially planned to buy another Honda if the Honda he was looking at needed to be replaced. Besides, my son-in-law has decided to deal with a different Honda agency, also. All this over a small $350 dollar repair. I wish them well, but if they irritate enough customers, they will no longer be in business!! More

The referral was through friend that was not paid either so make sure to get referral money on the spot. I was told, "we will not honor" and they hung up hard on me. I came in looking for a 2008 Honda Fit Sport and I should have just walked out from the 1st minute I walked in. I asked a gentlemen if they have any Honda Fits on the lot and he said he would find someone t have just walked out from the 1st minute I walked in. I saw an employee walking toward me and asked if I had been helped. I said no and I wanted to know if any Fits on lot. He checked and said yes and we took a walk out to the lot. The car was not the color I wanted, but my second choice. After the test drive, I advised I would be interested. We sat down and he presented the price to me. It was over $3000 above the MSRP. I point blank said, this is over $3000 above MSRP. He looked confused, so I pulled out a print out from the Honda website, as well as Edmonds and Kelly Blue Book and said see, the price for a 2008 Honda Fit Sport is $15850. I am not interested in this car if you are going to sell me it for $3000 more (this in NOT including Tax, Title, etc). He went and talked to a manager and gave me another figure, which was STILL ABOVE MSRP. I said no! He proceeds to pull out a old print out about the 2007 Fit and that its in high demand and that's why they are selling it far above MSRP. I said so its a highly sought out car and your selling it as a Supply and Demand price. I again said no, not interested. He said where do you need to be for you to walk out today with this new car. I gave him a figure (car price, tax, title, etc). They wouldn't budge. Then we go out to look at my car to figure out if they are WILLING to give me more than $500 on a trade in. After some more of me telling me I cannot fathom paying above MSRP, another person give me a another figure (lower than the 1st), but its still over $500 the MSRP. We came inside and the sales person I have been dealing with went and spoke with someone else, they came down on the price BUT it is STILL over the MSRP. I thought about it and stupid me was about to close the deal by signing the papers, but then my gut told me this is a bad deal and cancelled the transaction. I went outside to get fresh air and the GM came out and tried to BS me with some confidential document showing what dealers were trading with who to get their customers cars. Earlier I had mentioned in convo that I was working with another dealer and said there name. This GM was trying to tell me that the other dealer is lying to me because they do not have any cars in the color I want coming to them (even though the other dealer said it was coming, I spoke to them 5 min prior to GM coming out). Anyways I said still not interested, I am cancelling the sale. I waited for my receipt to come, as I was going to put my down payment on my credit card. My sales person comes back and advises they can offer $14,000 for the car and $1000 trade in. OK THIS IS A GREAT DEAL, BUT I still feel like I am going to get ripped off somewhere (I read some of the reviews here on OHare Honda and extra they try to sell you or force you to buy), so I said I would think about it and walked out. Also, would you believe that several of these sales people said they have sold the car to others in the last several weeks for $18,000. I said to them, then they are stupid and I am not going to pay over a MSRP. Overall, I didn't have a problem with Ralph Correra my main sales person, but with all the rest of them who were double teaming me. More

I was ready to buy a Honda Civic and I was shopping around for a price via e-mail. I did get reasonable offers from other stores but I figured that I would give my local dealer the business. His reply back to me : "That's very cute, but I'm well aware of Rosen's "price". Please allow me to point out that what you have certainly isn't a receipt of purchase, nor are you driving your new Civic. Good evening, sir." A bit rude in my opinion. This is definately the kind of people you would want to do business with......and after reading the rest of the reviews, I'm glad I didn't walk into that Dealership. More

Bought a Civic 2D EX, paid the MRSP of 19,855. The sales person was non-pressureing for the most part, answered any questions I had, returned my phone calls promptly. (Honda has a standard 5 year rust warrenty) Next I sat down with Jose Rubio the Business Manger to handle the finincing part. He told me since I don't have credit my interest rate will be 12.24%...ouch! I told him my Credit Union offers 6.5% I just need a co-signer. He couldn't offer a better deal, so i'm refinencing with my CU...;-) Also he tried to get me to buy the 7 year warrenty...don't waste your money...I didn't ;-) More

I called them everyday. BUT They never reply my call even I left hundreds of messages. When we WENT there to ask them cancel those insurance, they never give us any written confirmation. The attitude are so bad. They ask us to wait, but don't know when the money will be refunded. We talked with them several times, finally they said a date. On that day I call that person and he said the check has been sent to the bank. I waited for a week but my bank still said they didn't receive any check. I talked to that person who said the check had been sent to bank, he shouted at me like I am an unreasonable person. He said "procedure". He gave me other reason. I think he lied again. He even talked that they never cheat customers and they serve the community for a long time. He shouted at me talking about their reputation. More

This was my first time to buy a new car. So when I went there, the finance officer shamelessly lied to me by saying that since my credit history was short, the bank that was going to finance my purchase wo there, the finance officer shamelessly lied to me by saying that since my credit history was short, the bank that was going to finance my purchase would require additional insurances. I accepted. But later I called the Bank and was told they didn't require such insurances at all. I was outraged. But even to my greater surprise, when I went to the Dealer requesting a cancellation, the guy outrightly denied he had ever said that to me. Shameless liar and outright ripoff! It was also then that I came to know that he secretly added a 7-year extended guarantee with abbreviations "WD" under "Insurance". I was angry to death and he was still shamelessly trying to persuade me to keep this extended guarantee, which I had no idea of if I had not come to cancel the insurances!! He was quick to fill out the form for my cancellation. I was told the cancellation takes effect immediately, but funny enough, he claimed O'hare Honda only processes such request at each month end and I would wait for another 4-6 weeks after that to get my money in the bank account.....You can't expect they are going to admit their misconduct and be friendly to you if you feel your interests compromised. One man claiming himself manager even arrogantly attemped to walk away when I was still talking to him about this problem. What he said was: I have customers to deal with, I'm busy." Ok, since I had paid my money and got the car, I was not their customer any more and he didn't care. He even said: You can talk to anyone about this, you can talk to BBB. My concern is with the Internet Sales Dept at O'Hare Honda. I went in with my price quote from the Internet Sales Manager and I wanted to purchase right then. I really did. I can understand that the Odyssey sells for more profit. But they wanted full MSRP for the van that would be there in about 3 weeks. They are very popular and they are really nice vans. I went to go and buy one and the guy was talking to me like he was doing me a favor. I didn't like their condescending and flippant demeanor. I surely recommend not buying a van from there, and to whoever reads this message please beware of O' Hare Honda. They are not to be dealt with, and they don't deserve your business. The only person that I liked at that store was the receptionist because she was not smug as the example set by the Internet Team. This is the exact reason why they coined the phrase "Let the buyer beware" In the end, I did wind up making the order there 3 months back after negotiating for 4 hours as to why the price should remain the same;and my van still isn't there. It should have been there in 3 weeks. They won't give me my $2000.00 deposit back so I can go and buy somewhere else either. Thanks O'Hare Honda for being a pack of liars! The lot of you.
