Honda Dealership AutoNation Service Department just tried to up sale me on my car service for an estimate range between $3,000.00 to over $5,000.00. My steering wheel last Friday suddenly moved to the 1:00 to up sale me on my car service for an estimate range between $3,000.00 to over $5,000.00. My steering wheel last Friday suddenly moved to the 1:00 o’clock position to be able to drive the car straight. When I moved the steering wheel at 12:00 o’clock the car leaned to the left. I am retired and rarely drive to put milage on my car as I did when I was working. I took the car in for service on Saturday and waited several hours before my service rep came up to me with supposedly bad news. He told me they must completely change out the rear subframe assembly with a part price of over $1,800.00. He said the frame was bent and needed to be straightened out with a total price estimate including labor of at least $3,000.00. He said my car needed a major realignment. I explained to him that there were no accidents, hitting pot hole or running up on a curb. So, I did not know what caused this major repair. Read on as it only gets better. Continuing, once the rear was fixed, they would move to the front to see what is causing the misalignment on my front tires. He explained that you cannot evaluate repair cost or do an alignment until the rear is completely fixed and straightened. So, the estimated range for they front was anywhere from $500.00 to over $2,000.00 depending on what they find. So, my service person ordered the part and requested I return on Thursday to start the repair, which would take more than one day as this service is very labor intensive. This Monday I decided to get a second opinion. I first took my vehicle to an auto body shop to check the rear of the car for any signs of rear frame damage. The was no damage found in the rear of the car. The person I talked to said that Honda was trying to up sale me. He then called and referred me to a tire and auto repair service representative, which was next door. So, I took the car over and explained the situation. I went home and waited for the service man to call me once they completed their assessment. My car only needed a 4-point front end alignment as there were no issues with the parts. This straightened out the steering wheel to the correct alignment. The autobody shop guy came over to take pictures while the car was on the lift. My auto repair guy put my car on the lift again and went around explaining what they did. There was no evidence of rear damage and all the parts were inspected and cleared of any differences. I want to let you know that it is always best to get a second opinion on auto repair costs that seem questionable and all the time when the estimate seems crazy high. Needless to say, even though my Honda has been a wonderful car, I will no longer take it to any Honda Dealership because I do not trust them. If you do your research, Honda does have complaints from customers who were scammed and upsold on needless repairs. More
Having moved from Florida earlier this year - this was our first experience with AutoNation Honda. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left the experience was excellant. John our Service Advisor our first experience with AutoNation Honda. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left the experience was excellant. John our Service Advisor was fantastic. Prior to discussing what we there - John looked up all the previous work done by Coggin Honda in Orlando. John's recommendations on what to do or not to do was very imformative and helpful. More
