They diagnosed it as an O ring failure, which required a complete engine repair for over $8K. Within a year, the engine started smoking again, and they now diagnosed it with a failure of the cross-over pipe (something the service manager had never seen before). Needless to say, this ran another $4K. I asked if this could be related to the engine running hot after the first repair (which they blew off as no big deal), and he said "maybe." Unfortunately the engine again failed in 9 months due to the engine again get hot from unclear reasons and Autonation again refuses to honor any of their previous work. What are the chances for 3 major repairs within 3 years with similar outcomes of the engine running too hot?!!! Luckily another dealership is willing to change the engine for $4200, which would have been the best option when the engine first failed. I asked the service manager why they didnt offer that and they said they just don't (likely because it doesn't allow them to cheat you out of a lot of additional costly repairs). You have been warned - STEER CLEAR OF THESE CROOKS. More
