Our experience buying with AutoNation in Las Vegas was so-so. It would have merited one star, save for the helpful actions from a couple of sales employees. We purchased the car from Los Angeles, but so-so. It would have merited one star, save for the helpful actions from a couple of sales employees. We purchased the car from Los Angeles, but needed to have it sent to Atlanta where we reside. We began the process on June 27, 2023. We had several weeks before we’d return to Atlanta, so we were confident we’d have the car sent there by then. During the first week, we completed everything that was asked of us. Sent in all the necessary documentation and had our loan secured through our bank before even speaking with Auto Nation. We were repeatedly told to expect a call from Johnny, the finance manager. On July 28th, a packet was apparently sent to our home in Georgia containing documents we needed to sign. We reminded them that we were in Los Angeles, not GA. So, they sent the documents to an AutoNation near us. We went and signed all the papers on July 1. By July 4th, we hadn’t heard back about the status of the purchase. It had now been a week. We were told that Johnny had received the paperwork and “would review and submit everything”. I asked about the loan documentation, because after checking with our bank it seemed they hadn’t yet received it. I was given Johnny’s phone number. I first texted Johnny on July 8th. I received no response. I texted our sales person and shared that I hadn’t heard back from Johnny, and was told he would reach out within the next 2 days. He did not. Instead, we received a packet in the mail containing the SAME documents we had signed on July 1st at our local AutoNation dealership. Why were we being asked to sign the same documents twice? Is this what’s holding up the process? I tried posing these questions to Johnny… but he would not respond. I called and texted our sales person on July 12th, after I had called Johnny and left him 2 voicemails plus a text, all without a response. We’re now more than 2 weeks out from when we began the purchase. By July 17th, my patience is running thin. We needed to have the car in Atlanta by July 21st, when we were scheduled to return, but hadn’t gotten any indication the car was even on the truck yet. I texted our sales guy and asked for an update. Turns out he still needed our proof of insurance (although why we’re on week 3 of the purchase and you’re just now asking for this, I can’t quite understand). I ask our sales guy for a GUARANTEE that our car will be keys-in-hand in Atlanta by July 21st. He told me he could not make that promise. Completely fed up and stressed out, I told him to cancel the truck. I would come get the car myself. So, I flew to Las Vegas on July 19th, well over 3 weeks after beginning the process, picked up the car, and drove it to Atlanta BY MYSELF over the course of 3 days. A solo woman on the road, leaving behind my husband and our 2 children, all because we couldn’t get this deal done. While I’m on the road, Johnny FINALLY calls me back as if nothing had happened. I tell him it’s truly unacceptable that I’d called so many times and he’s just now calling back, a full week after I started trying to contact him. He said he hadn’t received my calls, but I have screenshots of the calls and texts I sent him. Overall, Tal did an adequate job, James was stellar, and Johnny was absolutely unprofessional and terrible. He didn’t even have the courtesy to apologize to me for putting me in the position to have to put an addition 2k miles on my car over a 29-hour drive due to his (or someone’s) lack of urgency and errors in having us sign the same paperwork twice. I received no apology, no compensation… just a “congrats on your new vehicle”. I can’t say for sure if I’d buy another vehicle from AutoNation. Certainly not from the one in Las Vegas. More
