Less than one week after purchasing my second 2011 Tundra, and with only 510 miles on the vehicle, the front floor pans had flooded due to a problem with the air conditioner. The first visit to the s Tundra, and with only 510 miles on the vehicle, the front floor pans had flooded due to a problem with the air conditioner. The first visit to the service department, they indicated the vehicle was repaired, but the drying and cleaning of the vehicle was not their responsibility. After drying the vehicle at home for 2 days using an extractor and a dehumidifier (at my own expense), the front floor pans flooded a second time. The second visit to the service department, they indicated that they “actually checked out the vehicle this time” and fixed the problem. Upon attempting to pick the vehicle up a second time, the floors were soaked and beginning to smell moldy. After leaving the vehicle a third time at the service department, they indicated again that cleaning, drying or replacing the damaged carpet and pad is not their responsibility. On the fourth visit, after filing 2 complaints with the Toyota Corporate Office, the service director indicated that they were able to pull some strings and would replace the carpet after all. They explained that the repairs would take a full week to complete and that they would not provide a loaner vehicle. When I proceeded to tell another client about my experiences, they called the police. They were however very gracious in not pressing "trespassing" charges. In addition to all of this, the Finance Department accidently forgot to include a rebate into the final purchase agreement. We had to redo the entire loan almost a week after the vehicle purchase. Incompetence obviously extends to the finance department as well. I'm still out of a vehicle, the new vehicle I purchased is wet and musty, and I've lost all faith in Toyota. I’ve especially want to express that the service department from my point of view is incompetent and unprofessional. Further, the General Managers, are as equally as un-professional as they failed to return phone calls, failed to even attempt to get the problem resolved. Instead, the effectively lost a client and are willing to risk losing future customers as a result of their actions and ultimately the products they sell. This is very disappointing to me having owned several Toyotas. I hope other potential customers will take this into consideration when in the market for a new vehicle. More
We bought our fourth Toyota from Libertyville Toyota today, all four were sold to us by Terry O'Gara. It was a great experience. Terry O'Gara is friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. We would n today, all four were sold to us by Terry O'Gara. It was a great experience. Terry O'Gara is friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. We would not consider going anywhere else. Toyota is the mostsolid reliable car in the world and Libertyville Toyota is the best dealership that we have ever been to. Terry is a highly professional salesman and we will always go to him. Great job, Thanks! More
I recently purchased a used truck from Libertyville Toyota. This was my first experience buying a used vehicle and I wish it could have been better. After negotiating a price for the truck, I was t Toyota. This was my first experience buying a used vehicle and I wish it could have been better. After negotiating a price for the truck, I was then hit with their fees. One of the most ridiculous fees is for laser etching a security code on the windows. It is done when the vehicle is put on the lot, you do not have a choice. The dealer said it is to protect the vehicles from theft on their lot but it is just to make money. I was able to get the price for unnecessary window etching cut in half but it is ridiculous. They should also tell you about it up front. We had to wait several hours to see one of the business managers. It was almost closing time when we went in to sign the paperwork. The business manager Magda gave us a song and dance about what our interest rate would be because the vehicle was several years old. Because of the time of day, the bank was not open so we couldn't get an answer at that time. She first tried to write up the contract with the maximum interest rate that the bank offered. I said that I would not sign that contract because I knew it wouldn't be that high. She wrote up the contract with a lower rate and told me she would call the next day with an official rate. The next day she did call to tell me that the rate I was approved for was even lower than the one in the contract. I was happy with the outcome until I found out it was a lie. She didn't want me to take the truck back so she lied to me so I would keep it. She told me that she would find out if the bank needed another contract signed with the lower rate or if they would just send me a letter stating the rate change. I did get a letter from the bank stating my payment and due date. The rate that was stated was not the lower rate that she had said I got. I called the bank and they said the rate I had was what the contract stated. I know the dealers get a kickback depending on how high the rate is and she figured I wouldn't notice. I called the dealer to speak with her and she would not return my call. I sent multiple emails to Rick, my salesman, which is another story all together. He did respond but only said he would forward the information to Magda. I finally got a call form one of the business managers named Joe. He told me that the lower rate was for different terms. I asked him why Magda didn’t tell me that. He did not have an answer. The lesson here is don't sign a contract until the terms stated in it are what you want. Car dealers will do everything they can to screw you. Another tip is tell your salesman that you want to see the inspection report. Rick told me there were minor problems with the truck but he didn't let me see the report. I did have to put a decent amount of money towards repairs right away. Be careful buying used cars and be careful with this dealer. In my opinion, I wouldn't waste your time. More
Our experience with Libertyville Toyota was great from beginning to end. Paul Handler was wonderful to deal with. He never pushed us, pressured us or used "hard sell" tactics. Recently researched and purchased a 2011 Toyota Highlander. Art Fanning was very helpful in learning about the options and negotiating a good price for my trade-in and new car price. Before agr Highlander. Art Fanning was very helpful in learning about the options and negotiating a good price for my trade-in and new car price. Before agreeing on a purchase, I had several meetings with Art Fanning over about 2 weeks. While I had had prior experience with Libertyville Toyota (purchase of a prior Toyota, 5 years earlier + periodic service), their initial offer for the specific model I had configured, came online from Consumer Reports Car Service. We were in the market for a new 4Runner, and had a very specific list of wants. Libertyville Toyota was able to acquire the specific vehicle we wanted, and make the necessary modifications to fit our needs specific list of wants. Libertyville Toyota was able to acquire the specific vehicle we wanted, and make the necessary modifications to fit our needs. This is the 3rd new 4Runner we have purchased, but our first with Libertyville. We would definitely buy here again. As a matter of fact, I may be looking for a new Tundra, and would not hesitate to call them first. More
My first real business complaint that really forced me to take to the net, Egypt-style. My parents and I went through one of the worst experiences at the Libertyville Toyota. My mom and I started the ordeal take to the net, Egypt-style. My parents and I went through one of the worst experiences at the Libertyville Toyota. My mom and I started the ordeal at 6:00pm looking to purchase a new RAV4. At 7:30pm, my dad had come in to agree with what we got the price down to, and we finalized the deal. At 11:00pm my poor polite Korean parents are still waiting to get the car. I am utterly shocked at how long this takes, and I fully recommend that if you are ever in the market for a Toyota to never come to the Libertyville Toyota. Get your price quote and get it anywhere else. Update: This car dealership was also able to pull up my entire credit history including SSN with only my name and address. No consent necessary. More
DO NOT TRUST Libertyville Toyota. They are shysters! I found a 2008 Camry on the internet but did not want to drive 3 hours each way before a final price was worked out. I worked out an excellent price w found a 2008 Camry on the internet but did not want to drive 3 hours each way before a final price was worked out. I worked out an excellent price with Alan/used car manager and all details were put in an E-Mail from him. He was very nice and seemed to be very honest with alot of integrity. Salesperson Carolina confirmed that the car had heated leather seats. We arrived on Sat 1/15/11 AM after driving for 3 hours to find out the seats were not heated. That would be $500 for us to add that option. We wanted to write a check and drive home with the car. They would not honor their verbal committment and either put in the heated seats or take off $500. I even offered to share that price and they would only have to take off $200. They would not honor their internet verbal price and committment. Unfortunately Alan was not in yet that day and we were forced to work with a very unprofessional jerk (unduty used car manager). He was very arrogant and rude and said their word meant nothing until a signature was put on the paper. He kept pointing at a piece of paper and saying no ink signature. This dealership's word means nothing and they lie or do whatever it takes to get you there and then practice fraud to make a sale. Terrible experience!!! More
