I came from out of state to purchase a Mercedes sprinter and was asked to have a $1000 hold on my credit card in order to make sure the vehicle isn’t sold. I gave my credit card information over the phone t and was asked to have a $1000 hold on my credit card in order to make sure the vehicle isn’t sold. I gave my credit card information over the phone to then later have to have it replaced since there was an unauthorized transaction on my card (I have an Apple Card and it does not have any numbers on it so no one would be able to steal the information unless I gave them the numbers which I only did over the phone with the dealer, I’m not saying they did it but it’s odd timing). Out of good faith I gave the numbers because I wanted the vehicle. I saw it and it was in good condition and at a decent price. I provide $2000 as a deposit while we initiate the financing options. I was asked $12,000 down payment on a $32,000 vehicle which is a little high but understanding I have a strong payment history but not a lengthy history I decided to get a co-signer. Once I get a co-signer with an excellent credit score and history the down payment is still $12,000. I don’t understand why but I decided to move forward with the deal. I ask the representative to give me 1 day so I can get the money from the bank and drive out to sign. After running our credit and taking my deposit the dealer decides to sell the vehicle to another person since they were paying cash. I’ve never felt more disrespected as a person in my entire life. This was the most egregious deal I’ve ever experienced with anyone. The most they could do was apologize and offer $500 off of another Mercedes sprinter they were selling for $70,000. After having my credit card information stolen by someone and a vehicle I left a deposit on sold (they stated a deposit is only good for 2 days. Which was never told to me or else I would have just gotten the money and closed the deal sooner instead of looking for a better option than giving almost 1/2 of the price of the vehicle as a deposit). Needless to say I will not recommend them as a business and hope you don’t get the rug pulled from under you like I did. More
