Worst car purchase experience I have ever had in over 30 years. I responded to an advert for an X5 and called this dealership and a price including delivery to Arizona was agreed. About 30 minutes later, I was called and was told that the offer of delivery was withdrawn but the price would remain the same. I reluctantly agreed and a date for me to collect the vehicle the following week was agreed. During this period, I was called multiple times to discuss the sale. I was told that the vehicle sticker which showed 3 years free servicing was incorrect and would not be provided to me. I contacted BMW USA HQ who confirmed, in writing, that the dealership were wrong and that the free servicing would transfer to me. I also had numerous calls to discuss the fact that I reside in Arizona and that appropriate paperwork would be needed for registration there. I was told that the vehicle had 11 months remaining on the tags and that this would be transferable to Arizona state and that no additional charges would occur when registering there. A time for collection was also agreed, as I had a 7 hour drive to Arizona. I travelled to the dealership on the day and time for collection and was told that the person responsible for completing the paperwork was busy. I was left to wait 3 hours, despite having an agreed appointment. I was also told that the necessary paperwork to have the car registered in Arizona could not be completed and that I would only be able to drive the vehicle for 24 hours and I would need to wait 4-6 weeks for the title to arrive before I could complete the legal requirements in Arizona. I told the salesperson that this was not good enough, that I needed to drive the vehicle, and that we had discussed this, multiple times, over the last week. He went and spoke to the sales manager who stated that they would put the original registration plate on the vehicle which would allow me to drive the vehicle legally until my title arrived. When it came to signing the necessary documents, I was subjected to pushy sales tactics to take out finance when I didn't want to. After eventually driving the vehicle away, I later noticed that the registration plate they put on the vehicle had tags which were expired and that the documents they provided did not entitle the vehicle to be on the road legally. When my title eventually arrived and I went to register the vehicle in Arizona, I was told that the information the dealership had provided was wrong and I had to pay $1000 in fees. I submitted a written complaint to the General Manager of the dealership, Jim Leyendecker, who failed to initially respond. I also made multiple calls and he failed to answer or respond to these. I eventually called the salesperson who dealt with the me, Jose, and he managed to get Jim to call me. Jim again failed to follow up and failed to respond to multiple requests to deal with my complaint. After a few weeks, I sent an email stating that I wish for my complaint to be addressed or I would take formal action. Jim called me and said that he would offer me $500 in accessories which I refused and requested a refund for the additional fees I had to pay, after his staff told me that there would not be any. Jim told me that he would take my request to the Board of Directors and would call me the following day. Again, several weeks went by without contact. After much chasing, I got an email stating that all that would be offered was the $500 of accessories. This dealership clearly has no idea what they are doing and there customer service is nothing short of appalling. They were complicit in me driving the purchased vehicle from there dealership in an illegal condition, provided false information on multiple topics and cost me significant delay and expense. I have now submitted a formal complaint to the California DMV who have confirmed an investigation will take place. More
