Power booking a used car sell to get bank loan approved On 4/23/16 my son,dad and myself went to seek a purchase for a 2014 Nissian Altima for the online price of $12,633.00. We met with sales rep Johnathan On 4/23/16 my son,dad and myself went to seek a purchase for a 2014 Nissian Altima for the online price of $12,633.00. We met with sales rep Johnathan, new in sakes and started the process by looking for the vehicle. After locating the vehicle in the back lot we were able to start the application process. The basic information was taken and my son name was initially listed as the buyer and myself as the cobuyer. The application was processed by his sales mgr Zach Smith to try for a lender and during the process we able test drive and look at the vehicle. We waited with Johnathan for a reply from the sales mgr Zach and Johnathan went several times after a long wait. I requested a Carfax on the vehicle and was shown there was no damage or wrecks. I did notice a difference in the color of the front end and drivers mirror, hub cap damage also the front edge of the fender was a small indention. During the wait we received a term and money down sheet. We were asked how much that we wanted to put down and terms; chose $2,000 down and 60mos term. Finally, the sale mgr came and stated we were approved which he had to work with the bank to get the loan. I've had problems getting approved previously so we felt blessed to start the complete process with the loan officer. But we had question about the car damage and he assured us they didnt do damage sell and always go by the carfax. I asked about the car paint on the bumper; which appeared to be repainted. Zach Smith staed he had it redone due to minor bug damage and wanted to give a cosmetic look to sell. The fender, mirror and hub cap were also questioned about damage and was told that could be taken care of. Went back inside to go over more processing of paperwork with sale rep Johnathan. He entered my son's info and then mine which was suppose to be his purchase. We found out the vehicke didn't have full warranty only some warranty. There were some concerns about the warranty, so we were considering added some to cover the vehicle. Well we met with the loan person Mr. J Miles to finalize the deal, we went a upstairs office and we were placed at a desk with a electronic board we were told that our contract would be done this device. My dad questioned this process and was assured that was done alot with customers,. So we proceeded with the contract and found out there was some additional charges. These charges were independent dealer fees; 1 - The Baker Advantage and 2- Reconditioning fee. These deals were not exposed to us. So we asked about it in detail and was that the Baker Advantage offered disciunt oil change, towering service, tire rotation, roadside service; maintenance coupons for a fee of $155.00. The reconditioning fee which entails car detail, gas, preparation process of purchase for $898.00. I had reservations at this point and told Mr. John Miles that wasn't disclosed to us before now. So I staed to him this should be optional by the consumer because thise service are on my car insurance. He appeared to be surprised that we hadn't been told and left the office for a bit. At this point we were reconsidering this deal, but wanted to make good in an opportunity to get a purchase. Mr. Miles came in with a black binder, which entailed a bunch of coupons for services at their dealership. Again, i stated that should be optional to the buyer and I wasn't ineterested in that cost. He told us we should have been told by the sales rep and pulled the application sheet with the terms and money down sheet. There was a list of prices along the term sheet with price of the car and additional fees. My dad and myself both looked at that sheet prior to starting the application process with the banks. There was absolutely nothing listed to the right half of the paper, so the loan person left out again for approximately 10 or 15 minutes. We were still wanting to do the deal without the additional fees. Mr. Miles came back and said we should have been told earlier by the sales person. I still showed no interest in getting the additional fees and resumed with the contract on this electronic board. Before this process we went over the paperwork in the file and Mr. Miles verbally, extended warranty, gap, money down, apr percentage, tax title and license. I was asked the about the terms I wanted for the monthly payments and I told him I coukd afford to pay the $375.00 which was for the 60 month term. And he made a suggestion if doing the 72 month term for $344.00 and using the remainder towards the principle. This didn't seem like a bad idea since I wanted to apply some extra money to pay the term off earlier. Each part of this contract was inputted on computer by Mr. Miles and then he pointed out the cost and fees to my son and I were told to sign the board. The final part of this process was completed and Mr. Miles printed up a hard copy of the contract, stated the papers and advised us to sign. We were assured that the information on the electronic board was the exact paperwork we will be signing. I did try to go over the paperwork to see what we were actually signing, but was reassured it was what we already went over. On the hard copy I was the buyer and my son was the co-buyers. I did question the signing and was told it was all the same we were equal buyers and it wouldn't really matter. Mr. Miles requested the $2000.00 down placed it in a envelope sealed it gave us a buyers a receipt for $2,000.00 which was in my son's name then handed us the contract in.a envelope and stapled it. He also stated that the vehicle had etch in parts of the vehicle, which was like a antitheft tracking device in it called "Etch". We also received the agreement to furnish insurance policy and told be sure to inform my insurance company. This was a long and tedious process but was excited we were able to get the vehicle. We went back downstairs and was told by sales rep Jonathan that the service department was detailing and putting gas in the vehicle. So we were revisited by Zach Smith to advise us when the bank called to confirm our purchase to let them know the vehicle is a Nissan Altima SV and was told he would order the parts to repair the mirror and replace the hub cap. I had to make an arrangement for a later date to to come back for repairs. I agreed and waited on my vehicle to be brought around then we left in two separate cars. My son left in his new vehicle with papers in tow, he was happy. I received a call from Capital One Auto finance on 3/28/16 from Adam to complete the welcome. I was unable to call on 3/28/16, returned the call until 3/29/16 due to personal business and I confirmed the information of the purchase and told the bank the vehicle information stated to me by Zach Smith. I made an arrangement on 4/01/16 to go get the repairs to the drivers rearveiw mirror and replace the hub cap but was unable to make due to work. I spoke with Zach Smith about coming on 4/06/16 and he agreed to see me on that date. What we thought was a good deal turned out to be not a good purchase, after a long tedious process I realized after learning all the cost and upgrade on this vehicle was more than the vehicle I purchased. The vehicle I had purchased was Nissian Altima S and the lender was under the assumption I bought a Nissian Altima SV which was stated to me by the sales mgr Zach Smith on 3/23/16. I don't have alot of knowkedge in sale purchases and felt betrayed and mislead as a cosumer. I have had bad experiences in trying to get a vehicle in the past, but this by far us the worst. I was told by Zach Smith I should have read the contract as a cosumer, which is true to a great extent. But I felt they had our best interest at heart, I no longer have the vehicle in my possession. The lender Capatial One Auto Finance/ Matt stated to me the dealership could do a unwind/cancellation on the deal. He also stated it is a tedious process but can be done and would do whatever they could to help in this situation. They were willing to void the contract as long as Baker Nissian was willing to do the paperwork. I stated this to Zach Smith and he basically gave me the alternative of a trade out. For what I exoerienced I wanted nothing more to do with them as a dealership. I explained my concerns with the vehicle type purchased versus the type on the account with Capital One Auto Finance. Also a matter of fact the contract doesn't show the vehicle with a series type; S,SV or SL, it says 2014 Nissian Altima .The contract had a different price of the vehicle $14,703.94 which included a additiinal $2,000.00 from the dealer, then my $2,000.00 was deducted off the price. This brought the vehicle price of $12,703.94 which wasn't the original price on line of $12,633.00. We didn't ask for that, I regret that I trusted their business as a dealership, and the fact I insisted on going through every detail of writing. Regardless this does't make it right how I was treated after I stated my concern to the sales mgr Zach Smith. He went from nice and friendly upset and uncooperative. The final outcome was I didn't no longer want to do any other business of any sort. So I didn't except the option to trade out and I told the sales rep Johnathan that the deal was fraudulant and the vehicle purchase wasn't right with the lender and wanted to cancel the contract. He went back the his sales mgr Zach Smith after waiting around for several hours to see what he could do. Johnathan came back out with a paper which was a arbutration aagreemet and was told that there was nothing he could do the deal was already settled. I made one last attempt to work something out with the sales mgr Zach Smith, but was left there feeling disrespected and taken advantage of. I was told again by Zach Smith there's nothing further he could do and the vehicle is yours. I stated that the deal could be undo per the lender. I told them it's not right and I didn't no longer want the vehicle. Zac Smitid said well I just state that you're doing a voluntary repo. He advised the sales rep Johnathan to get the keys and walked away. Buyer beware to make sure in purchasing stick to your interest of what you plan to buy and spend exactly what you're asking for, I have notified the bank lender, Nissian corporate of my concerns as well Channel 26 and do have a valid complaint. I know as a consumer there are fine print and responsibility to make sure I'm getting a fair deal. But wrong is wrong and sometimes helping someone along the way in life will automatically help ehance their own ability to prosper. As a matter of fact you will gain more if you can help someone along the way not take advantage of their lack of knowledge of things. Im not doing this for sympathy, but to make people aware to look out when you're new at this business of purchasing a vehicle at any dealership. In addition I would like to say that during the application process for the buyers occupation, employee and salary info. My son was listed as the buyer and myself as the co-buyer. The occupation for my son was self employed and employer was a student and his salary was $1.00. I gave my actual occupation, employer and check stubs which were faxed to the sales mgr. Zach Smith. I didn't realize they used that info for my nineteen year old son to complete the application process, but was told by Zach Smith that he had use it to complete the application and its going to be in both of our names. We were assured its alright by Zach Smith when we were going to complete the contract with John Miles. I' realize that I trusted their business as a dealership to do good business practices. After all this they did everything necessary to get the loan for their own gain. More
