I recently purchased a VW Tiguan with the help of Justin and Yaris. They were both phenomenal!! I can't say enough good things about the fair, honest treatment we were given at Balise. I had been driving a 2002 Chevy Suburban for the last five years. Now my kids are grown and are driving themselves and my daughter got a 2004 VW Beetle Convertible. I am 6' tall and thought if I got in this car I would break it and not fit in it! Well, that was the beginning of my VW experience. I went to Balise VW the very next day and ended up purchasing a 2008 VW New Beetle Convertible, gecko green with a tan top! And to say that I love this car is an understatement!!! I am 51 years old and am so loving this car!!! Everywhere I go someone has something to say, and I mean wonderful things! Dealing with Balise was a wonderful experience from beginning to end!!! I dealt with Norm and Chuck, I met Mike and dealt with Jeannie at the end for the purchase! They were all wonderful people to deal with and really cared about my purchase! I haven't even thought about my Suburban since!!! And the gas mileage is incredible!!! I fill up once every two weeks, only because it is summer and I am always going out for a ride!! My husband and I are so tan it is incredible! I haven't been this tan since high school!! And I have it all decorated with flower magnets, flower steering wheel cover, a big pink flower in the vase and pink flower license plate frames in the front and back!! My wife and I recently bought our first VW from Dennis. He made the car purchase process that we normally dread rather pleasant. He listened to all of our concerns about our new vehicle and went above and beyond to find a satisfactory resolution to all of them and gave us a great deal on the car to boot! My wife and i actually travelled from just north of Boston shop at Balise because they seemed from our research to have the best deals around in addition to a low-pressure sales team. We would absolutely recommend anyone shopping for a VW in the Warwick, RI area go speak with Dennis at Balise! Update: This update is long overdue - Shortly after purchasing the vehicle in question, we discovered problem after problem with the car. First we discovered that mice had apparently been nesting in the engine compartment and snacking on a vacuum hose. (After getting very animated in the showroom over this issue, Balise finally agreed to cover approx 2/3 of the cost. That was the last time we even bothered with this dealership as it was such a hassle to get them admit any responsibility for this damage, less than 5 days after taking delivery of the car.) Numerous repairs had to be made to the windows, door latches and the convertible top. The car was in the shop at least once every two months for the 1st year and 1/2 we owned it. Luckily it was a covered under a VW Certified Pre-Owned warranty, so all the repairs were covered. That brings me to the most important part of the story. When we attempted to the get oil changed for the 1st time, we discovered that the subframe of the car had been damaged. This damage, which certainly occurred prior to our owning the car, made it impossible to properly change the oil. So, that would mean that all these issues went unnoticed by Balise when they certified this car, or perhaps they never performed the certified inspection in the first place? I don't know, but they certainly didn't change the oil, which I think I can safely assume is part of VW's certified pre-owned inspection and prep. The VW dealer in Medford, MA we had been taking this car to for service went to bat for us with VW corporate, and VW agreed to cover this $2000+ repair. The TD;DR of it is this: Balise sold us a "Certified Pre-Owned" car, that in my opinion, they never inspected, that had at least $4000 (retail) of defects/damage that the pre-owned inspection would have required them to fix. This should not be a reflection of our sales person, as I'm fairly certain he had no idea, but someone at Balise did, I'm sure. More
