This was my last service visit to Banister, and based on my experience, I will never return. I brought my truck in for what should have been a routine oil change and tire rotation. A service that should have been straightforward ended up taking more than seven hours to complete, which was frustrating enough on its own. To make matters worse, when I finally received my truck, I discovered that the technician hadn’t even completed the complimentary multi-point inspection report. It had to be emailed to me later that evening after I had already left the dealership. Instead of leaving with confidence that my truck had been properly serviced, I left with a vehicle that immediately felt unsafe to drive. As soon as I pulled away from the dealership, it felt like the driver’s side front wheel was about to fall off. I’ve driven this truck every day for years, and it had never handled this way before the service. The very next day I returned to the dealership and asked to speak with the Service Manager, but he wasn’t there. The staff only checked that the lug nuts were tight and told me everything was fine. When I asked them to investigate the other issues I was experiencing, I was told I would need to schedule another appointment and pay additional diagnostic fees. After spending money on a routine service that appeared to create problems, that response was unacceptable. Immediately after the service, I noticed a loud popping noise every time I turned left. I also discovered that two of my tire valve stem caps were missing, I wasn’t given a new oil change reminder sticker, and the following day my navigation system and backup camera stopped working. Because I no longer felt confident in the work that had been performed, I took my truck to another dealership for a second opinion. They found oil spilled throughout the engine compartment, an oil filter that had not been properly tightened and was leaking oil, and damage to the front differential and CV axle. While I cannot say with certainty that the differential damage was caused during Banister’s service, the timing is difficult to ignore given that these issues appeared immediately afterward. What disappointed me most was the complete lack of customer service. I contacted Banister and requested that the Service Manager call me to discuss my experience. Despite multiple attempts, I never received a response. That silence spoke louder than any apology could have. Mistakes can happen in any service department. What matters is how a dealership responds when a customer raises legitimate concerns. Instead of taking ownership or even having a conversation, Banister ignored my concerns entirely. Between a routine service taking over seven hours, incomplete paperwork, the apparent quality of the work performed, and the complete lack of accountability afterward, I cannot recommend their service department to anyone. I trusted them with my truck for basic maintenance, and I left with less confidence in my vehicle than when I arrived. More
