⭐ 1 STAR — PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION I purchased a 2015 GMC Yukon XL Denali from Bayside Ford in King George on June 8, 2026. What should have been an exciting purchase turned into weeks of disputes, 2015 GMC Yukon XL Denali from Bayside Ford in King George on June 8, 2026. What should have been an exciting purchase turned into weeks of disputes, repairs, lost time, and stress. Bayside passed the Yukon through a Virginia state inspection at approximately 141,344 miles and marked the suspension acceptable. Just three days later, on June 11, Firestone inspected it at approximately 141,775 miles—only about 431 miles later—and documented that both front struts were leaking oil and no longer performing properly. Firestone advised that the vehicle would not have passed their inspection in that condition. Instead of immediately addressing a major suspension problem discovered three days after their inspection, I was forced into an exhausting back-and-forth with management. Derrick Pendergrass stated that Bayside stood behind its inspection, and the repair was characterized as essentially “optional.” Bayside initially offered to perform the work for approximately $2,500 and contribute only $1,300 as a “goodwill” gesture. Their written estimate was $2,521.61, leaving me responsible for approximately $1,221.61 immediately after buying the vehicle. Their other proposed solution was for me to return the Yukon and take back the 2013 Chevrolet Suburban I had traded in. I had to provide Firestone’s findings, document the mileage difference, save photographs and emails, request itemized repair information, demand written confirmation, and ask for someone above the store level. Only after repeated escalation did Bayside agree to replace both front strut assemblies and perform the alignment with a zero-dollar customer balance. Robert Mros, Bayside Ford’s Service Manager, ultimately handled the strut repair and alignment. I appreciate that it was finally completed, but no customer should have to fight this hard over a serious suspension issue documented three days and roughly 431 miles after the dealership passed the vehicle through inspection. Unfortunately, the struts were not the end of it. During a later service visit, I learned that the brakes were also in bad condition, raising even more questions about what was actually examined before the vehicle passed inspection. The Yukon then developed a misfire. Firestone replaced the spark plugs, but the misfire returned. Oil was found in or around cylinder number one, and a possible lifter problem was identified. The issue has since escalated to discussions involving a stuck lifter, camshaft damage, metal in the oil, internal engine damage, and possible engine replacement. The final cause and extent are still being evaluated, but this is what I am dealing with shortly after purchasing the vehicle. I understand that an older SUV with more than 140,000 miles may need repairs. That is not the point. The problem is the pattern: Bayside passed the vehicle through inspection; leaking front struts were documented three days later; management initially defended the inspection; I was expected to pay more than $1,200 or take back my trade-in; I had to escalate repeatedly before the suspension repair was fully covered; bad brakes were discovered afterward; and the vehicle is now facing a potentially catastrophic internal engine problem. I have the inspection paperwork, Firestone findings, mileage records, photographs, emails, the $2,521.61 estimate, the $1,300 “goodwill” offer, the message offering my Suburban back, and the repair records. Bayside management is welcome to contact me. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Bayside Ford. Anyone considering buying a used vehicle here should obtain a completely independent pre-purchase inspection, insist that every promise be put in writing, and preserve every estimate, photograph, email, and service record. I sincerely regret purchasing this vehicle from this dealership. Proceed with extreme caution. More
