My husband’s car got totaled, so we had to purchase a new car. We also wanted to trade mine in to make more sense of the dollars and cents. On Wednesday. We went to Toyota of Portland. The salesperson quoted us a price on a Corolla, we accepted, then the person disappeared and came back with a higher quote. They never did honor our price. The fellow we were using messed up the paperwork and had to redo, creating a situation where our small children were extremely restless. We left feeling yucky and cheated, but with a car.
On Friday, we went to Toyota of Beaverton to try to trade in my van for a Subaru. We were exhausted and not ready to deal with another dealership. We sat down with Adam Kadri and he explained the Beaverton dealership works differently, with the price posted being the final price. He used a subscription version of Kelley Blue Book to create a value for our trade in. The manager went over our car carefully to confirm damages and consider features not represented by KBB. Adam came back with a very fair trade in value, a number in line with what I’d hoped to get from a dealership, but didn’t expect to actually be offered.
While we were buying the Subaru, he took a lot of extra time to answer questions and checked where he needed to. I never felt pressured, cheated, confused, or anxious. Adam genuinely wanted to find the best fit for our family and advocate for us as customers as well as his business. He was knowledgeable and caring. They even stayed open late to finish the process, a fact I can’t appreciate enough as a parent of younglings. At this point, we plan to return to the dealership that offers fair prices for both parties and total transparency into the car buying process. We’ll definitely be getting in touch with Adam for our next vehicle!
The one bit I wish they would change is their dog-friendly policy. As an allergy sufferer, I’m increasingly pushed out of businesses as pets are welcome and my health doesn’t agree with this. Adam was as accommodating as possible, agreeing to meet with us in the tiny chairs of the kid’s room and co-opting a cubicle to limit my exposure.
