Do not trust Bell Road Mitsubishi. They will keep your car for months and then unlawfully hold it hostage to extort money out of you. Our vehicle was left at this dealership for FIVE MONTHS just to complete a factory warranty repair on our EV battery. Because this was a manufacturer warranty fix, our final consumer balance for the work was exactly $0.00. When my husband finally went to retrieve our car today, the service and management staff explicitly refused to give us our keys or release our personal property. They are attempting to pull a fast one by fabricating a fake "garage keeper's fee," using our personal vehicle as leverage over a completely separate, unrelated insurance claim regarding a previous loaner vehicle. The General Manager, Scott Stapley, completely refused to look my husband in the eye, step out of his back office, or explain this illegal behavior face-to-face. We had to dispatch local law enforcement to the dealership lot today just to document the incident and prevent a breach of peace. Under Arizona law (ARS § 33-1022), a shop cannot file a mechanic's or garage keeper's lien unless there is an unpaid balance on that specific vehicle. Our car has a zero balance. What they are doing is civil theft and illegal conversion of property. An official consumer fraud complaint has been filed with the Arizona Attorney General's Office, and a licensing complaint is being sent to ADOT Enforcement. If you value your property and your sanity, stay far away from Bell Road Mitsubishi. They rely on bullying and hiding in the back to take advantage of consumers. More
