I visited another Volkswagen dealership in the area and had a terrible experience. The salesperson was the rudest person I have ever met in my life. She was angry that I was there and every question I ask had a terrible experience. The salesperson was the rudest person I have ever met in my life. She was angry that I was there and every question I ask she had a very snide remark. After leaving that dealership I was very upset and had a bad taste in my mouth. I decided to give this car buying thing one more try and I stopped by Berge Volkswagen. Berge Volkswagen gave me the best experience I have ever had! Robert, my salesperson, was excellent!!! He has been there for 4 years and he knows what he's doing and how to treat a customer. He helped me feel welcome and he put the fun back into the buying process. Dan, the manager, was great! He did not hide anything, he spent time explaining everything to me and he helped me feel like family. I would highly recommend Berge Volkswagen and I would not send my worst enemy to the "other" Volkswagen dealership in Gilbert!!! More
I wanted to buy a Jetta but they didn't want to sell one to me. I had gone into the dealership last November to look at the new 2011 Jettas because I was thinking about trading in my wifes car for something to me. I had gone into the dealership last November to look at the new 2011 Jettas because I was thinking about trading in my wifes car for something newer. We were interested in looking at the base model because we knew that would be all we would be able to afford payments on since we were upside down quite a bit on the old car. The sales person showed us the only S model they had on the lot and we liked it a lot. We started the financing process and as suspected they were not able to get us in the payment range we wanted to be in since we were upside down on our old car so we left. No harm, no foul. Fast Forward to January/February this year. I get a call from someone at Berge VW asking if I was still interested in buying a new Jetta. I told her I was and what my situation was last time I went and told her that there is no way that they would be able to get to the terms I wanted. She assured me that they had some great incentives and promised me the moon to try to get me to come in and try to work a deal again. So I show up and ask for the lady who called only to find out she is in marketing so I was quickly whisked off to one of their sales people. I told him my story and how I was looking for the base model which was priced below $16K, and he told me I wouldn't find a new Jetta anywhere priced bellow $16K. So I said I must have been dreaming when I drove the one with the sub $16K sticker back in November. We looked around the lot for a bit but we didn't see any base models so I told him that I would be willing to try a used VW as long as it had a warranty and it was in my price range. He started telling me all about this awesome Mazda they had on their Mazda lot that was only $20k. I told him A: I don't want a Mazda, I want a VW, and B: If you guys cant get me the right payments on a $16k car how the xxxx are you going to get me the payment I want on a $20k car. Again he promised me the moon and I said I would consider taking a test drive. We went on a test drive and I said that it was a nice enough car that if they could get me the terms I wanted then we would have a deal. But then somewhere between the parking lot and the front door of the Mazda showroom he suddenly had to take care of some other business so he pawned me off on another sales person whom I had to tell my whole story to again. Anyway, long story short (Too late!) this third person took all my info and went to go run numbers and came back with a figure $200 more a month than what I was willing to pay (Surprise surprise). I thanked him for wasting my time and started heading toward the door. Then the sales manager came up to me and did the sales manager thing where they say "If we can get you payment X then will you consider buying this car?" Payment X was still way more than I was going to spend so I thanked him for wasting my time and got in my car to leave. But, instead of leaving I went back over to the VW showroom and asked for the girl who I first spoke to on the phone. I told her about how everything that I told her was going to happen, happened. I told her about how the whole time I was here looking for a Jetta, all they wanted to do was pawn a Mazda off on me. Then I told her to take my phone number off of any list she may have me on because there was no way I would ever do business with their company. If you want a new VW do not go to Berge VW. If you want a used Mazda, then you might get lucky at Berge VW. More
