Shopping at Bernardi Honda proves the ages-old adage that it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch. While my salesperson, Charles Sectish, was pleasant and generally helpful, Bernardi's finance departm it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch. While my salesperson, Charles Sectish, was pleasant and generally helpful, Bernardi's finance department was anything but, thanks, in large part to fact that I chose not to finance through them. Coarse, difficult to deal with and not particularly helpful at a job that at that point -- let's face it -- was largely ministerial, Bernardi's financing actually ruined an otherwise okay experience. Instead of solving simple administrative problems such as how to get the money from my bank to the dealership, George insisted that I resolve on the problem. Apparently, the hassle of a two-minute phone call was too much. All in all, the sales experience at Bernardi was fairly typical of the modern-American dealership: generally slimy with a haunting sense that no matter what you paid, you've paid too much. Unfortunately, I will not shop at Bernardi again. More
On 10/26 I went into this dealership with my father (who had flown up to accompany me) to shop for a car or SUV. We were introduced to a salesman who was pleasant enough but had a habit of walking ahead of had flown up to accompany me) to shop for a car or SUV. We were introduced to a salesman who was pleasant enough but had a habit of walking ahead of us through the lot giving the impression we were not really a priority of his. We eventually found a CRV we liked and were immediately given the keys and a gas slip to both drive it and fill it up. After a short drive we came back to the dealership and met with Phil Geller, a sales manager. After negotiating back and forth (and getting a firm lease price for 42-months and 17K miles per year) with both the salesperson and Geller knowing I was going to more-than-likely need a co-signer (my Dad) to get the car I decided not to sign a hastily-given credit application as I needed to think about this purchase. They both looked shocked when we decided to leave without filling out the application. Geller's last words to me as we walked out the door were "will you be calling us back today or tomorrow?" I told him I wasn't sure if I was going to be calling at all. In retrospect, I should have followed my gut. After thinking about it for two days I decided I wanted the car and called Geller back on the afternoon of 10/29 to say I was coming in to sign the loan application; he was, as expected, happy to hear from me. When I got to the dealership Geller told me I should try to apply with just my credit first and then, if necessary, with my Dad as a co-signer. I filled out a completely different loan application that I noticed, based on the small type on the bottom, was being sent to one bank in Rockland, (I think) MA. There was no co-signer section. After 10 minutes of waiting Geller and the salesman came back telling me that I would now have to pay $530/month, up from the "firm" quote of $336-$357 including tax depending on my credit tier w/without a co-signer if I wanted the car. All of a sudden you can't have a co-signer from Florida (interesting since the Honda I was returning at the end of then lease was acquired from Boch and my Dad was able to co-sign for that car and he lived in the Florida at the time). Thing is, Geller knew all about my situation and that my Dad had flown up for this possibility when we first sat down to negotiate. When it came time, a different application and no co-signer allowed. And I seriously doubt they EVER tried to send my application to Honda Finance despite Geller telling me on the phone that "since you are already with Honda Finance with your current vehicle and have a track record of paying your loan each month, they have worked with many situations like this before." Yeah, this is assuming they try to contact Honda Finance (not on the small print on the loan application). I think they were trying to meet quota with a banking source and didn't even try for whatever reason known only to Geller and their finance people. All the cliches of car salesman were substantiated: they'll say ANYTHING to reel you in and then spit you out. Nice hatchet job. More
It was a great experience from the beginning. I received assistance immediately (from salesperson David Weinstein) and was given helpful advice on which car would best suit my needs. I also spoke with the assistance immediately (from salesperson David Weinstein) and was given helpful advice on which car would best suit my needs. I also spoke with the Business Manager (Tim) who negotiated at a price I was able to consider and those were the combined faxtors for my purchasing a 2007 Fit Sport that day. Since the purchase a month ago, I love my new car and received 2 follow-up cars from the David to ask how everything was going, which is great. Usually one only receives 1 initial call right after purchaing. GREAT EXPERIENCE AND WOULD RECOMMEND THIS DEALER TO EVERYONE! Nannette S., Sudbury MA More
My sister's family started shopping for a 2007 Honda CR-V EX-L today (July21/2007) and I was with their family today. We met Mr.Joe Donnell who is an absolute gentleman and is sound in knowledge. He was very EX-L today (July21/2007) and I was with their family today. We met Mr.Joe Donnell who is an absolute gentleman and is sound in knowledge. He was very friendly and very very professional. He took us for a test drive, showed all the trim variants and available options with colors. He gave us a quote for 26200$ out of the door and we bought it without the slightest hesitation with a great satisfaction. My sisters family was very happy with the experience and thanked him for his help and ease of transactions. It only took us less than 30minutes for the paperwork too. They are very honest too which makes it the best experience ever in the Boston Area. More
We purchased a new Odyssey and traded in our old one from Bernardi at the end of June. The overall experience was very straightforward and pleasant. We tried going to another dealer in the Boston area first, Bernardi at the end of June. The overall experience was very straightforward and pleasant. We tried going to another dealer in the Boston area first, and we were given a very hard time. After the awful experience, we studied the Edmunds forum to find out what people were paying and then we emailed a few dealers to get quotes. Bernardi's quote was not the lowest, but it was close enough given how easy they made the entire process. Email is definitely the way to go. More
I went to Bernardi a few days after a fruitless and obnoxious trip to the automile in Norwood. I hate going to car dealerships more than I hate the dentist, usually, since I look young (I'm 28, but ado obnoxious trip to the automile in Norwood. I hate going to car dealerships more than I hate the dentist, usually, since I look young (I'm 28, but adorable) and am clearly a gay. Slimy car dealer types don't know how to deal with that usually, so they stammer and talk to me like I'm a mentally handicapped child, or ignore me completely and talk to whoever has accompanied me the whole time. But Bill was great, he even looked me in the eye! He let me test drive his own personal car since there weren't any others in the model I wanted on the lot, which is pretty outstanding. I paid sticker, since the car I wanted was in high demand, but that's the way it goes. The finance guy was not as awesome as Bill, but he wasn't as horrible as the dudes at Boch and the Mazda place out on Route 1. More
After test driving the new CRV at a different dealership and not having the greatest experience with the sales pitch, I called Bernardi as they were close to my work. I wanted a black on black EX-L with na and not having the greatest experience with the sales pitch, I called Bernardi as they were close to my work. I wanted a black on black EX-L with navigation which they said they had. After work I went one night and met with Jess. She was very friendly, knowledgable, and honest. She took me to see the exact CRV I would be purchasing if I decided to buy. After showing me some features I hadn't seen on the navigation, we went inside to talk figures. I already had in mind what I wanted for my trade in and knew I was not going to pay MSRP on the CRV even though it was a "hot" car. I ended up getting $100 less than I wanted for the trade in, but $800 off of MSRP. I was happy with that and was able to pick up the car 3 days later. I'd recommend the dealership to anyone and also plan on doing my service there as they are rated best in the area. More
I had my Honda CR-v in for repairs. The dealer in Norwood tried to say my brakes caliper was no good and wanted over $500.00 to repair. I took vehicle to Bernardi Honda in Natick. I have always had mixed experiences with Honda Dealers, yet I have owned Hondas for over 20 years. I have to say that my experience with Bernardi is definitely in the top tier. I felt that I was getting yet I have owned Hondas for over 20 years. I have to say that my experience with Bernardi is definitely in the top tier. I felt that I was getting such a good and honest deal from my salesperson, that I bought a second vehicle 4 months later. What I am looking for is an honest deal, and that is what I got from Bernardi. They were also very helpful getting me some paperwork I needed almost a year after the original sale. Not all salespeople are the same, and that may be why some people love a dealership and some people hate that same dealership. From my experience dealing with the managers of this dealership, they are looking to do right by the customer. Afterall, they had 2 sales within 4 months from me and stand to gain 2 more sales in the next 18-24 months (plus all the service on 2 cars). More
All staff was very friendly and helpful. There was no pressure, they just tried to make sure I got what I wanted from my purchase including finding the exact options that I needed on my new CRV. pressure, they just tried to make sure I got what I wanted from my purchase including finding the exact options that I needed on my new CRV.
