Ron Carter Rocks Ron Carter Hyundai totally exceeded my expectations for purchasing a car. I had used their service department for my previous Hyundai Sonata's needs Ron Carter Hyundai totally exceeded my expectations for purchasing a car. I had used their service department for my previous Hyundai Sonata's needs and was very pleased which encouraged me to look their first for my new vehicle. I was impressed with the knowledge of my sales person, Paul, that showed me the difference between three different Hyundai vehicles that I had an interest in. More

Sleazy Ron Carter Hyundai 8100 Gulf Fwy Friendswood, TX 855-279-2086 My problems: I began looking for a new Genesis the last week in May 2017. I located Ron Carter Hyundai 8100 Gulf Fwy Friendswood, TX 855-279-2086 My problems: I began looking for a new Genesis the last week in May 2017. I located all of the Hyundai dealers in the Houston area and began to look at their Genesis inventory. I found that the 2017 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate was the most generally available. I located two color combinations that I thought that that I could like – White with Gray interior of Silver with Gray interior. I had been driving a White Genesis for about six years and liked the idea of a change to Silver. I found a Silver / Gray in inventory at Ron Carter Hyundai. Thursday afternoon I called a lady that had contacted me by Email and gave her the description. She said that the car was stored at another location but she could have it at the dealership early Friday morning and that she would be there by 9:00 AM. I arrived at the dealership approximately 9:45 but she couldn’t be found. Mueen Moe Shurafa had met me at the door and said he could help me. After approximately 45 minutes “Moe” told me that the car was located at another location and they were sending for it and it shouldn’t be very long. A while longer Moe found the keys for a similar car and we went for a test drive. During the drive he told me that the car had been loaned out to a customer that had brought a car in for service but that they were going out to pick it up. Somewhere in this time frame a discussion on price for the car started. The sticker price for the car was $55,700. I told Moe that I wouldn’t pay that much at the end of the model year. I qualified for two Hyundai incentives totaling $1,500 which reduced the sticker price to $54,200. I offered $49,750. Moe carried this offer to the sales manager who rejected it. The offer was rejected a second time but the sales manager came out the third time and said he would accept it. Moe then told me that the car was being used by the owner’s wife and she was in or near Galveston. As a result it was taking a little longer to get the car than he had expected. It was noon by this time and we decided to take a break to get something to eat. Moe suggested that I return about three and they would have the car available. I returned a little after three but Moe wasn’t there. A Paul Jones said that Moe had an emergency and he had agreed to help me. He said that the car under discussion wasn’t there as it had been wrecked. I told him of the string of stories that I had been told: on a different lot, out as a loaner, the owner’s wife had it. Mr. Jones said that they just didn’t want to tell me it had been wrecked. He said they could get a replacement in from another dealer in a couple of days. He did have a car with the color combination, silver and gray, that I wanted to see. My wife was with me by this time and we both liked the color and said that was what we wanted. Mr. Jones started filling out a multitude of forms that he wanted signed. After assembling a pile, he delivered us to “Finance” The man in Finance first offered to sell us additional warranties which was rejected. He then filled out forms for the title, the tags, and others. One form, Agreement to Furnish Insurance Policy, appears to be associated with the loan of the same car that they now said was wrecked, VIN KMHG----179962. The Conditional Delivery Agreement also appears to cover the same wrecked car. The Odometer Disclosure Statement listed 50 miles – for a car they didn’t have and couldn’t yet deliver. The last form, Vehicle Purchase Order, was presented for signature. Again, for the car they said had been wrecked and they could not deliver. The total price was significantly higher than I had anticipated. I knew that tax, title, tag fees would add a lot to the agreed $49,750, but this was much more than I had expected. After inspecting the charges I found a charge for “accessories” which was in the $4,000 to $6,000 range. When I objected and told them I hadn’t bought and didn’ want any accessories, they called for the sales manager. Note that the charge for accessories was not next to or near the “Selling Price” but well down the list below State Sales Tax, Dealer Inventory Tax, i.e., semi hidden. The sales manager said this was for items the dealer added and was an addendum to the car’s sticker price. I argued that we had agreed to a price for the car and it didn’t include any addendum and that any thing he had added to the car should be taken off. He said it had already been added and couldn’t be removed. Note this is still a car he didn’t have thus he couldn’t have added anything. The sales manager made some kind of concession which lowered the price some. Without going over the figures, I signed the sales agreement, a major error on my part. Later that evening after going over the figures I found that I had signed a sales agreement which was approximately $3,500 above the price which we had agreed on earlier in the day. All of this resulted from a series of lies. 1. Moe said the car was on a different lot and they were going to get it. It would be there soon. 2. Moe said the car had been let out as a loaner car but they were going after it and it should be there soon. 3. Moe said that the dealership owner’s wife had it and it was somewhere near Galveston. It was going to take a little longer than they had anticipated. The purpose of these lies was apparently to keep me at the dealership and this was successful. I had been there from approximately 9:45 to about 4PM before I found that they didn’t have the car. The sales manager also managed a couple of lies. 1. Late morning after some barganing, the sales manager said he would sell me the car at my offering price of $49,975. At the end of the day it became clear that he had no intension of selling at that price. 2. The sales manager said the “accessories” were already on the car and couldn’t be removed. This is for a car he did not yet have. As a result of all of this, I purchased a car that I really like at a price much higher than I should from what I now consider a very sleazy dealership. If Genesis wants to become a well known luxury car brand, you need to monitor your dealership operations. Bobby D. Richardson More
