They're Not Responsible For THEIR Damage I recently took my Toyota Sienna to Bill Penney's service department for a recall and an oil change. When checking in, I was told I had to sign a waiv I recently took my Toyota Sienna to Bill Penney's service department for a recall and an oil change. When checking in, I was told I had to sign a waiver releasing the service department from any and all responsibility for loss and/or damage to my vehicle. When I objected to signing, I was told to sign or take my car elsewhere. When I asked why they refused to take responsibilty, the service writer just grinned. (There is also a sign on the wall verifying this policy.) Since only a Toyota dealer can handle factory recalls, I signed and left my car, but I plan to take both of my Toyotas elsewhere for regular servicing. Since their employees know they will not be held responsible for poor service and/or damage to my vehicles, I no longer feel comfortable leaving them there. (Several telephone calls to other dealers in the Huntsville - Decatur area revealed similar policies at a few other places, but not many.) More
