I did not go to the dealer on May 26, 2010, with the intention of buying a new car but for service on my 2001 Beetle. But it had been on my mind since February. So I was receptive to a new Beetle during this week's special deals. Unlike my experience with St. Charles Automotive -- where I bought my 2001 Beetle -- I was impressed by the lack of high-pressure sales at Bommarito Hazelwood. After all, if I'm inquiring about the price of a new car, it's obvious I'm interested so there's no need to be the stereotypical car salesman out of the 1950s! Charlie Gilbert was thorough without being pushy, and was definitely interested in getting me exactly what I wanted. Shawn McCarty went above and beyond to get me the best deal for my budget. Les Johnson greeted us as we arrived at the dealership and was one of the most courteous salespersons we ever met. He showed us the Jetta, explained in detail the car and let us test drive it. When we express concerns about size he show us the Passats. After his detail explanation of the car, our numerous test drives, his patient with us leaving to test drive other brands for comparison, he was able to work with us to negotiate a deal that was acceptable on a new 2010 Passat. When I arrived at the store for test drives, the cars were ready, and I was able to drive each of them for as long as I wanted. After driving several cars, I selected a Jetta Sportwagen TDI. While other dealers were asking full retail for the TDI, Bommarito offered a substantial discount, and entire transaction was concluded in less than 30 minutes - no pressure, no hassle.
