My only real complaint was that he did low ball the price a little, and that the car took a long while to reach the dealership More

Unless you like rental cars for months, go somewhere else It's difficult to express how poorly this dealership runs their service department. We had a 2014 Hyundai Elantra with 50K miles that showed signs of It's difficult to express how poorly this dealership runs their service department. We had a 2014 Hyundai Elantra with 50K miles that showed signs of a blown head gasket back in Dec/Jan which was still under full warranty (eng/trans). We brought in the car and they quickly agreed it needed a new short block. All was fine and they had the car for multiple weeks while they sourced the parts and performed the repair. We picked up the car and the engine sounded "different" but was running and the short block installed. Hard to tell at that point how well the rebuild was done so I took the car and figured we'd drive it for a bit to see. About a month later my daughter sends me a video with the sound of what the engine noise she's hearing (slap slap slap like hamsters flopping in an engine). I quickly tell her that's not good and we need to get it to the dealer. She's 4 hours away but we decide to meet her halfway and swap the cars. No issues as with piston slap the warmer the engine the better the seating. Piston slap resolves with a warm engine. I was in contact with the dealership and sent the service manager the video clip who agreed they needed to check it out. We believe it's piston slap caused by a poor short block rebuild. So we drop it off and a few days later the service dept says the main mechanic looked it over and agrees that there is an issue and instead of another short block they should put in a long block. I have the full chain of texts back and forth from the original video confirmation to the dealer saying they want to do a long block. I say, fine let me know when it's done. We're in a rental car for 2+ months and nothing is done (call after call and also showing up at their desk when nobody responds). A few more weeks pass and we call for a state and then they can't find my car! HA. So then I hear they let our service mgr go and possibly others as well and a new guy is in charge. They locate my car after 2 days and us saying we'll file a stolen police report and he says we can't find anything wrong with the car and come get it. Ok, so you took my car for almost 3 months and gave us a rental car while your previous service/mech told me you evaluated it months ago and it needed a second engine AND you all recommend a long block covered by Hyundai. Now you're saying nothing is wrong and can we have our 2+ month rental back. At this point, we just wanted out of this place. We picked up the car and I traded it for a Toyota. When we were dropping off our rental, the Hertz location had two others in line who had similar (multiple) engine failures in their Hyundai cars and had been in rentals for a long time with no end in sight. All I can say is this service department is not managing expectations well, and can't fix the problem when they attempt it. The dealership would not call us back throughout the months of having our car, they lost the vehicle and the only way to get them to action was to escalate to corporate who could do nothing in the end since we resolved it by just selling the car. In the end, they did not fix our car (piston slap still heard) and we traded it in. I will never buy a Hyundai or work with this dealership. I'd suggest you find another place for service if this sounds familiar to you. More
