This is an update to my initial review of Autoway Nissan below. After my earlier review, I was contacted by Autoway and ended up speaking with Jim Drews. It is my understanding that he is the 2nd In charge there( General Sales Manager). I had quite a long conversation with him about my original experience and how disappointed my wife and I were. He and I came came to a new agreement that I could accept and was he was a man of his word. After coming to an agreement, the original minivan that we were going to buy was already sold so he went the extra mile and located an almost identical optioned van somewhere else and brought it to his dealership and had it ready for us 3 days after our agreement(Saturday night to Tuesday morning) we had a deal and drove away very happy with the deal. After our 2nd visit and purchase I would recommend Jim Drews and Autoway Nissan. Also I would like to give a shout out to Zaq Berridge the salesman who handled the legwork of our purchase and and to Catherine Sardonii the finance lady. Both were very helpful, pleasant , and professional about their jobs. So our second go-round was very pleasant and we were out the door in 2 hours. More

My husband and I recently started looking for a new/used car. We were very car specific when we went to Autoway Nissan of Brandon. John Carver approached us and we asked if they had any year or two old Ni car. We were very car specific when we went to Autoway Nissan of Brandon. John Carver approached us and we asked if they had any year or two old Nissan Altima Coupes 3.5. We mentioned that my husband was deploying and we only needed one car but because his was a manual, I could not drive it. He told us that he didn't have any on the lot but he could check other stores and asked what color we were looking for, to which we replied anything but preferably not red. He had some technical difficulties with his computer but eventually got back with us and said he had an older 2008 2.5, but the others were all red. I asked him information about the red ones and he said he didn't look it up because they were red. He comes back with a black one that was a manual. Anyways, we did this back and forth, until my husband said, again, that the only type of Altima we wanted was a Coupe with the 3.5 engine. Johns response was "he wasn't going to get anymore 2010s in" and seemed very confused, and said he “guessed he just couldn’t help us”. At this point I just walked to the car. My husband said told me later that he had asked him if he could just email us if one came in on trade, and that he was aware they would not be receiving a shipment of 2010 Altimas. A few days later John emailed my husband to let us know they did have one at another store. We went to Nissan to get the information but it was Johns day off. Bill (who was very pleasant) helped us and also had someone do a trade appraisal. We set up a tentative deal, regarding the trade and financing. During this time we explained to Bill that we felt the trade value was to low. They ended up giving a bit more on the trade, and offering the leather we wanted for free, we were okay with this deal. He had mentioned the car was coming from down south so it would be a day or two and they would call us when it was here. Adam asked if there was any cost involved with shipping the car and he said "No". When we left we looked up the car that we were planning to buy on the other dealers website. We were shocked to find that there was a big difference in price; it was much cheaper down south than what they had quoted us in Brandon. I emailed Bill, and my husband called John. We were told we would discuss this and they would check on the pricing. Two days later we went to look at the car and I immediately noticed that the price on the window was yet a 3rd number. I was starting to feel a bit screwed over and I again mentioned to John about the pricing, he said he would check on it but that he was sure it was a "shipping" cost. I mentioned to John we were told there was no shipping charge. He kept saying that he would check on this price, but never did. When we went inside to look at the deal, we mentioned that we had been to two other dealerships that offered us much more for our trade. The car we were trading was a Mazda SPEED6, fully loaded with extra options as well. I mentioned I would like to revisit this subject, because we realized that other dealers thought it was a Mazda 6 loaded, and the difference was huge, considering our trade car came with AWD as well as a turbo charged engine. He said that they sent the photos and information to Autoways Mazda store and he was sure that they wouldn't have more money for the trade but he would check again. He came back with a printout from Auto Trader of a car that looked like his only without the options, and showed us the price of the car on Auto Trader, saying that if they gave us what we wanted on the trade they would lose money. Once again, this was NOT the same car, which I (again) explained to John. He came back to us with David Gatchell. David Gatchell was incredibly rude, he yelled at us, and tried to intimidate me by staring and talking to me angrily. He said he "was not going to argue about this car". Arguing was not what we ever intended to do, we merely wanted them to understand that there is definitely a deference in the two cars, and we want to make sure our trade value was correct, especially considering other dealerships offered us much more. We were talked down to and this was the underlining moment that kept us from doing business with Autoway. I have no idea why he has a job in sales, or any type of job that would give him the opportunity to speak directly with customers because it does not seem to fit is terribly personality. I have never been treated so badly. We had mentioned earlier to John that we did have an interested buyer from a guy in Miami. We told him it may or may not happen but (because the banks were closed the following Monday) we did want to wait until Wednesday to make a decision. We were told by John that they would probably have to ship the car back down south. This seemed very odd to me so I asked him the reasoning behind that decision. He said that the car was not theirs to keep, only to sell to us or give back to the other dealership. I then explained to him that if we did not sell this car private party we would be coming back to do the deal we previously worked out. He kept saying it wasn't his decision to make to keep the car or send it back. I told him at this point, that we weren't buying today, and if he could just please point us in the right direction we would ask if the car could wait here a few days. He said his manager was not there that day so we wouldn't know until the morning. We said that was fine we would call back then. I should mention that at some point he told me that he would have to split a commission with Bill, because we had come in on his day off. He seemed upset that he had to split with Bill and inferred this was our fault. Terrible customer service. That Monday(we told him several times we would contact him)he called us three times to see if we had sold the trade car. We told him (just as we had when we were there at Autoway), that we wouldn't potentially sell the car until Wednesday. This is the point we started discussing the way they had treated us to this point. We also had found(not on purpose) a fully loaded Altima at a dealership down the street priced substantially cheaper. Between the three prices, the way David had treated us, the fact John seemed to never listen to us, and that we had better trade value almost everywhere else, it seemed to only make sense to not spend our money at this dealership. The next time John called he , said his boss was "breathing down his neck" and "they keep pressuring me", so I told him that if it was this big of a deal they just needed to send the car back. I told him it wasn't the only car out there, and to be quite honest we were definitely unimpressed with the customer service we had received. We decided to go to Ford, just to look. Guess what? We bought a BRAND NEW Mustang. We were treated great, there was no pressure, and they took their time and let us look at everything, and even ran two deals to see the difference with a used or new mustang. The sad part about our experience with Autoway is that we never had ANY intentions to buy another Mustang. We wanted the Altima, and if John knew what he was doing he could have very well sold us a new Altima Coupe. I would NOT waste your time with this dealership. More
