I am disappointed to learn that you were not satisfied with the response you received from our Service Department regarding the chips in your Tundra. As you can understand, Toyota and the dealership are not responsible for damage to your vehicle that occurs during normal use after your purchase. You state that you have driven the vehicle for approximately 3,800 miles. If the chips are a factory defect they could be repaired under warranty at Toyota's expense; if they are a result of normal wear and use then it would be the owner's responsibility. We would be happy to touch up the chips at our facility at no cost to you if the chips are minor in nature. However, an auto body shop is better equipped to make paint repairs that are more extensive. If you would like to discuss your concerns with me, I would be happy to help in any way I can. I am disappointed to learn that you feel we somehow caused you to lose one of your complimentary ToyotaCare maintenance services. We want you to take full advantage of those 5 complimentary services which are paid for by Toyota. However, Toyota requires that you take advantage of those 5 services during the 1st 24 months or 25,000 miles of driving. Since your vehicle uses synthetic oil, the oil and filter is changed at the 2nd and 4th service only (10k and 20k mile intervals). Our recommendation was to do the more comprehensive ToyotaCare service (which included the oil change and the tire rotation) and skip the intermediate one as you were past the recommended time and mileage already for that service. Windshield wipers are a "wear item" and are only covered by Toyota for 1 year or 12,000 miles if they are found to be defective. If they are worn out or damaged through usage then the replacement would be a customer expense. Regarding your brake wear, we make a good faith effort to advise you on the approximate condition of your brakes over time and use green, yellow, and red to identify condition; Green for Good, Yellow for Showing some wear, and Red for needing attention soon. It is clear that the 2nd technician thought your brakes were showing less wear than the 1st technician. I apologize for the confusion. In either case, you do not need to be concerned about the condition of your brakes at this time. If you have any further questions or concerns, please stop by and we can discuss your situation with you personally. Mike Hills General Manager Bristol Toyota
