Took car in for a problem with alternator after having oil changed day before said they could have it done on Tuesday had to order a part or could have it done this afternoon (Mon) with a part that would have a 1yr. 12,000 miles guarantee said go ahead for this afternoon when got home called and said I'd wait for factory part They said it was already done just putting on belts I said OK get a call later that day that the alternator had damaged the PCM and would be another $1323.92 and would be ready Tuesday. Tuesday called said I needed the van to transport Wheelchairs to dr appt Wed if van was not ready please contact so I could reschedule appt NO RERSPONSE Called Wednesday AT 1 p.m. told bill was closed out but give them a couple of hours . Texted Thurs at 4.34 NO RESPONSE finally at 12.26 Fri get a text saying car was ready.When I got there was extremely upset Had talked to another Mechanic and he said the person MAY have damaged the PCM when putting in the alternator (can't verify ) Service told me I had a factory Alternator in my car asked how could that be when you never had one there Monday and installed the other one by noon . EXPENSIVE lesson learned got an oil changed then led to alternator and PCM never had a problem in the last 14 years when it was Bill Bryant. FYI while I was there heard a mechanic come out and tell an advisor that while trying to remove two bolts they had damaged the frame (wonder who pays for that ?????? ) Communication was SO bad. My advisor would not even ask me to sign paperwork . More
Buying a car from a dealership has its ups and downs. You have to expect that you'll be hit with "dealer handling fees". In recent years, that amount has doubled to around $2.000. What I didn't expect was an additional $3,000 in "Advantage" fees. So, at CDJR, add $5,000 to the listed price plus taxes of $350. Had I realized what I was getting into, I would have never visited the dealership. But, like so many others, I was a captive audience member who didn't escape the classic line: "what can we do to put you in this car". But, I only have myself to blame. I took the bait and they reeled me in. More
