Carmax was wonderful to work with and right now is the only way I would buy a used Tesla as you cannot purchase FSD outright any longer. I purchased a used Foundation Series Cybertruck that still had lifetime FSD active on it (it is important to check to make sure FSD was not transferred off the vehicle from when Tesla was allowing this to be done) and that (and the included lifetime premium connectivity) was transferred to me upon purchase. For this specific purchase, I had the vehicle transferred from Dallas to Austin; during transit the windshield was broken. Nick at Carmax quickly worked to get the glass replaced and even proactively offered to refund the transfer fee if I did not want to wait. The sales person was wonderful to work with as well, but fortunately the actual sales process was so quick I cannot recall her name (but kudos to her for making it so quick and painless!) At no point did we feel rushed or pushed into making a purchase. One example of his honesty and professionalism was when we looked at a vehicle with a strong smoke odor. James actually suggested other cars because of how overwhelming the smell was. We decided to test drive it anyway, and he was absolutely right—the smell was overwhelming and we anll ended up with headaches for the rest of the day. Even though he had warned us, he still apologized for the experience, which shows how much he genuinely cares about his customers. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, honest, patient, and trustworthy car dealer, I highly recommend James.
