We received our vehicle body panel imperfections that required repair which were thankfully caught during final inspection. However we were required to drive the nearly 2 hours back the dealership for re required repair which were thankfully caught during final inspection. However we were required to drive the nearly 2 hours back the dealership for repairs get a loaner and drive 2 hours back home, await repairs- then drive two hours there and back again to retrieve our vehicle. The repair looks okay but we lost 8 hours and had to pay for fuel each trip. When I inquired about reimbursement I was quipped at “your loaner is your reimbursement”. If this weren’t enough, after just 1500 miles our brake pads are grinding and neat failure as we are 400 miles from home. Now we have an incredibly stressful drive back on grinding brakes that started halfway onto our road trip in our “professionally inspected” $48k car. More
Once the car made it to the dealership, the process was quick. There was a glitch in getting it transferred from one local dealership to the other, probably in part to it being a holiday weekend. This is not my first experience with this CarMax. Upon entry, the building is very neat and clean inside and that is appealing. The associates are cordial but not overly friendly. When inside, there Upon entry, the building is very neat and clean inside and that is appealing. The associates are cordial but not overly friendly. When inside, there is a lot of waiting and there is minimal vending and maybe coffee but lets just say, you're not at the Lexus dealership. You feel like you're at the BMV. Some improvements could definitely be made. My biggest gripe was that I reserved a truck from a CarMax 5 hours away and that $99 transfer charge went immediately on my credit card. The truck shipped but it sat in a filthy parking lot located in a town 20 minutes away from my CarMax dealership for several days until my wife called and asked what was taking so long. The tracking record showed it correctly, but no one brought it to the dealership until she called. I would have been better off driving the 5 hours and used the $99 for gas. No doubt, someone botched something and no excuses and no apologies. You should have called me. I would have went to the lot and drove it back myself. I should ask for my $99 back. I ended up purchasing the truck at what I thought was a fair price. I did not sell my truck to CarMax because they low balled my trade by $3500. That was insulting. The sale at CarMax went smoothly. The salesman Cody and the Tammy did their jobs well. I've purchased cars from this dealership in the past and the last experience had a snafu and CarMax made it right and this experience had a different snafu. I did not finance my purchase through CarMax. As soon as I heard competitive rates, I'm out. The salesman got a little testy when I did not choose CarMaxs' extended warranty. I have car warranty's on my other cars and CarMaxs' warranty price was about $800 higher than what I've paid. And they require you to purchase the car warranty "in the moment", no time to really think about what you're doing. No thanks. If you're pushing your sales people to sell warranties, why don't you give more time for the customer to make the decision or make the warranty more affordable? Maybe sell the warranty cheaper if the customer pays for it separately. I would have bought it if it was reasonable. All in all, I like the truck. More
I had a vehicle shipped to their facilities, and they cleaned it up and got it ready for me. I talked to a representative, and then I went there. They showed me the vehicle with confidence and didn't pus cleaned it up and got it ready for me. I talked to a representative, and then I went there. They showed me the vehicle with confidence and didn't push me to buy it. They were just there to answer questions, which she did very well. Then I was looking to test drive it, which was not a problem. Nothing was being pushed to buy. My representative salesperson, in my opinion, was top-notch. I bought the vehicle and am very happy with it. More
