Great company overall, but DON'T buy a car from Mohammed (Muhammed?). I have purchased a car from CarMax in the past and had a fantastic experience with them. Mohammed was obviously being "fake nice", didn't listen to me when I asked to test drive alone and came along for the ride, he drove recklessly through the parking lot, was dismissive of my concerns regarding a couple of repairs that needed to be done ("it's a used car maam", "don't worry maam, eeeeverything will be just fine"), interrupted/talked over me throughout our interaction, wanted to rush through the sale, opened the sunroof while I was driving and getting sun in my eyes (I immediately asked him to close it as I didn't ask him to open it), returned the car to me with a badly broken side mirror (it was already broken initially, but he had obviously made it worse while the car was out of my sight and now the car is unsafe to drive), didn't fill the gas tank when he said he would, tried to sell gap insurance to me but didn't know how to explain what it was/didn't know what it was and kept talking nonstop to me while I read for myself about it even after I asked him to stop talking while I read, was rude to his coworkers (saying "come come" and waving business office women over to hurry and take my payment even though they were coming over anyway), and made personal and unprofessional comments on my salary while looking through my approved financing application. I now wish I would have stopped the sale and requested someone else to deal with, but I needed a car and I could tell that the one I was looking at was a good deal. Now some of my money is going to Mohammed, who will continue to treat other women customers poorly. He's been there for over 20 years and I can't imagine how! CarMax, get rid of this guy! More
Carmax of Laurel was amazing from start to finish, especially our salesman Stephen. He was not pushy, was able to answer all of my questions and I was able to get the SUV that I wanted for the monthly especially our salesman Stephen. He was not pushy, was able to answer all of my questions and I was able to get the SUV that I wanted for the monthly payment I wanted also! I also got pre-approved for financing on their website beforehand which made the process even faster. Two hours and I had a new car that I love. I would recommend Carmax to everyone!! & take a look at the website before you go to narrow down your options because they have so many great vehicles for great prices! More
I went to this dealership before buying my car from another dealership in Clarksville after very poor customer service from sales person Alfred, i wanted to buy a car for my wife and we went together a another dealership in Clarksville after very poor customer service from sales person Alfred, i wanted to buy a car for my wife and we went together at this dealership and i did schedule my test drive on first day, i encountered with this Horrible attitude person Alfred who didn’t let me try 3rd car the same day and as he said i can do only 2, really? Then i came back again the next day and after test driving a car when i asked about another car which i was not asking for to test drive as i have finalized A Hyundai( almost new ) he very rudely told me that I CANNOT TEST DRIVE ANOTHER CAR and i HAVE TO MAKE UP MY MIND...What?? Really, I am giving you business man, come on...i left the place as i was feeling embarrased, what a poor customer service and what a terrible sales person, he might have thought that i am not a serious buyer but i was and i bought a car the same evening...i will not recommend this terrible person ALFRED to any one, these kind of people don’t fit in sales, it’s my right to try whatever car i like before i buy and his job is to satisfy me but he miserably failed, i will say dealership is good but this person is not, if you want to go to this dealership make sure you meet some good sales person not him as he lack true customer service skills.. WORST CAR DEALERSHIP EVER!!!!!!!!!! I bought an F-150 truck from them in 2015, the second day the alternator and battery died (that should have been a sign to return it, but by then I lo I bought an F-150 truck from them in 2015, the second day the alternator and battery died (that should have been a sign to return it, but by then I loved the truck). I PAID EXTRA for extended warranty b/c the truck was a little older. I've had nothing but PROBLEM After PROBLEM after PROBLEM with this truck. to name a few: two batteries replaced, two alternators replaced, a NEW TRANSMISSION ($3,000), AC broke, catalyc converter replaced, spark plugs and wires replaced, etc. in August 2015 (two months after having truck) the AC broke, I brought it to their service department (my first mistake was taking it to them) and I complained about this "ticking" noise that I'm hearing. on the receipt it said, and I quote, "could not hear ticking noise b/c AC is broken." REALLY? didn't even bother to figure out what it was. to make a long story short, it's the engine. I complained about that "ticking" noise and the fact it felt like it was going to conk out every time I brought the truck in. the last time I brought it there they said the spark plugs needed to be replaced. $500 later and the truck was WORST than when I brought it in. I called and complained and she said for me to bring it back (no thank you) and she had the nerve to tell me that, and I qoute, "the spark plugs was a jumping off point." REALLY? Why don't you fix what's wrong with it instead of guessing? My mechanic says there's NO WAY NO WAY they didn't know it was the engine. but now my warranty is expired and they're saying pretty much too bad, even though I complained about it several times under warranty. I also had to have the spark plugs replaced that they put in b/c they put the worst kind of spark plugs in my truck and I had them replaced the next day (more money.)) I WILL NEVER EVER EVER BUY ANOTHER CAR HERE! THEY ARE THE WORST! THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS INCOMPETENT, to say the least. More
Both associates I worked with were great! I didn't make any appointments and ended up looking at a few cars with Adele Williams-Sikes. She was so personable with absolutely no sales pressure what so ever. I was undecided and eventually decided to test drive 2 vehicles. She didn't seem to mind at all that I was going back and forth between several. I would recommend making an appointment with her! I later worked with Abraham (?) on shipping a vehicle form another town and financing. He was also very easy going and helpful explaining the options. I really wish I could remember his last name. Really nice folks :) More

The sales person was very nice but didn't really try to help us. He sent us on the huge parking lot to select a few cars which we did. Then put our info in the computer and said sorry, we can't help you. N help us. He sent us on the huge parking lot to select a few cars which we did. Then put our info in the computer and said sorry, we can't help you. No explanation, nothing! They gave us a good price on our trade in but that's really all they were interested in. They wanted us to sell them our car and leave. They didn't really want to sell us anything. No minivans on their lot at all. More
Went to this dealship to have my car appraised as I wanted an estimate so I could get a fair trade-in value (as I was car shopping). Kelly Blue Book valued my car at $2500 more then the CarMax estimate wanted an estimate so I could get a fair trade-in value (as I was car shopping). Kelly Blue Book valued my car at $2500 more then the CarMax estimate. They had a similar model on their lot for $8000 more, so one can assume they will buy your car and mark it up considerably! When I finally sold my car, I recieved $2600 more then CarMax's estimate ($100 over KBB) for my trade. The positive: this dealership will give you an appraisal in under 30 minutes and you can sell to them without buying from them. The negative: the appraisal is much lower then you can expect to get at other dealships and they are undercutting the consumer. CarMax is taking advantage of folks and ripping people off and they know it, beware! More
I can't say enough good things about Larry. I asked for an older salesman that was also a father, then told Larry I wanted him to pretend that I was his kid. Sounds strange maybe -- but have you ever trie an older salesman that was also a father, then told Larry I wanted him to pretend that I was his kid. Sounds strange maybe -- but have you ever tried to buy a car as a single girl? Larry was wonderful -- so patient in thoroughly explaining every single detail of the CarMax process, as well as showing me countless cars. He didn't hesitate to tell me when a car I mentioned wasn't on his list of daughter-approved rides, or when they were cars he wouldn't drive himself. He had a lot of good advice about what would work best and spent a significant amount of time making sure I got what I was looking for. He showed me a 2006 VW Jetta, which I really fell in love with. I ended up going with a Jetta, but buying one new from the dealer. I still thought the service I received was so outstanding that Larry -- and CarMax -- deserved a good write up. Of all the places I went to look at cars (and we're talking at least ten different dealerships here), I felt best about the time I spent with Larry at CarMax. They just couldn't beat the 0% financing I got at VW. Thanks, Dad... I mean Larry! More
