When I bought my car, Todd, who helped me was great. He was super nice, informative and very fast. The following day my husband went to buy a car using the same process (by appointment) and had a wildly different experience with Trent who kept disappearing for 20min+ at a time, and was on the phone. Eventually my husband had to track him down to be helped and was given the excuse of them being busy by management. If he wouldn't have gotten upset they would have kept him there even longer. They tried to make up for it with 3 free oil change coupons. Notably also the tracking device was left on the passenger seat when my husband test drove the car, which I doubt is proper procedure. I also had an issue with my infotainment system that should have been covered by their 30 day warranty. When I couldn't get a hold of the service desk, the lady who answered from customer service did not even let me finish what I was saying before transferring me to a voicemail where I left message and never heard back. When I did finally reach the service department I asked for a confirmation of my appointment since it had been made after the 30 days which they could not provide. I was told I would get a message the day before my appointment and as long as I showed up it would be covered. That message never came. Honestly just did not want to deal with them any longer and decided to go to the Mazda dealership instead. I was also given major attitude when I pointed out that they notified me of the wrong car being there to pick up before my car had actually arrived, when a simple sorry would have been sufficient. Luckily I hadn't made arrangements to be available yet by the time they notified me it was the wrong car. You'll find cheaper cars at local dealerships, but I'm willing to pay extra for their certified inspections, convenience, and customer service in which case CarMax can really do better. I returned vehicle on day 10 and was convinced to by another so against my better judgment I did. I purchased new vehicle and after a few days the check engine light came on. I immediately went to the service dept. A few days later I called and complained and they told me my car had not been looked at yet. Because I was so upset they agreed to work on the car and told me it would be ready for pick up the next afternoon. Sure enough the next day came and they called me telling me the car was ready. My husband sat in traffic to go pick up right when he got off work o my for the check engine light to come on again about 20 min after he left. Do not buy from carmax. They are un reliable and the service dept never answers the call. When you go in you will see at least five people sitting around. It’s very disappointing that I’ve had to waste my time with several trips. The last time they offered to take the car to Mercedes. Too little too late. Why was that not offered in the 1st place?!? I will say the operations manager Jay was very nice and did his best to fix the situation. Had I not complained it never would have made it up the chain for him to know about. He gave me the opportunity to return the 2nd car after the 10 days. So we did. The stress and headache was not worth it all. More

That level of detail matters, and it showed he wasn’t just trying to move inventory, but making sure the vehicles made sense for our situation. What we appreciated most was his transparency. He was straightforward about what was and wasn’t a good fit, and didn’t hesitate to point out when something might not be worth pursuing. He also gave honest input on timing, whether it made sense to move forward or wait, which is something you rarely get in a sales environment. There was no pressure at any point, just clear information and space to make the right decision. On the financial side, we felt well-informed throughout. I have not received any explanation regarding the poor service on my truck, which I purchased from this same dealership. I brought the truck in three separate times while it was still under warranty because the tire pressure sensor was not working. Each time, I was told the issue had been fixed and was even informed that the sensors had been replaced. Today, when I had new tires installed, I also requested new sensors. Surprisingly, I was told that the sensors on the truck were still the original ones and had never been replaced. It is extremely disappointing to learn this after being told multiple times that the problem had been addressed. Being given inaccurate information—especially after returning three times for the same issue—reflects poorly on the level of service and honesty I would expect from a dealership. I would appreciate an explanation for how this situation occurred. More
