I purchased a 2020 F-150 from Carwise Gurnee on December 10th from Michigan. I paid titling fees and registration fees. The truck came with a temporary plate that expired on March 10th. As of March 25th, my 10th from Michigan. I paid titling fees and registration fees. The truck came with a temporary plate that expired on March 10th. As of March 25th, my lien holder/credit union still has not received the title and I have not received my permanent license plate for the truck. My plate is expired so I am not able to drive the truck legally and my credit union has raised the interest rate on my loan until they receive the title. I received one email from Amy on January 9th about renewing my insurance which I replied to with new insurance on January 12th. I asked a question in the email but Amy never responded. I called the dealership on March 16th and spoke with Jennifer who said she would look into it and call me back. I never received a call back. I have called numerous times since then and left voicemails. None of my calls have been returned. I have asked to speak with managers and I have been told that my case has been elevated several times which has not amounted to a resolution. I also spoke with a manager and he said that he would look into it and then call me back. He did not call back. This business has a customer that is experiencing a legal and financial problem that they have caused while not having the common decency to return phone calls over the course of two weeks. Carwise Gurnee makes the comments below so that they can seem like a business that cares about customer service. However, they still did not return my call when I called on a Monday afternoon. If they had appropriate customer service, they would call me to resolve the issue. Instead of telling me to give them a call and then giving me the same run around treatment. More
I purchased a 2018 Cadillac Escalade from CarWise Auto Sales in September 2025. At the time of purchase, I was issued a 90-day temporary plate that expired on December 16, 2025. As of March 26, 2026, I Sales in September 2025. At the time of purchase, I was issued a 90-day temporary plate that expired on December 16, 2025. As of March 26, 2026, I still have not received my permanent license plates or any confirmation that the vehicle title has been properly processed. When I first followed up, I spoke with an employee named Marco, who explained that the dealership had purchased the vehicle from an auction and that the title had not been sent with the car. I was told the issue would be resolved in “a couple of weeks,” and that the delay was due to the holidays. Since then, I have returned to the dealership multiple times and have been given the same response each time — “a couple more weeks.” What is especially frustrating is that the owner publicly responds to my reviews as if they are willing to help and resolve the issue, but in reality, no action is taken and nothing changes. The responses appear helpful on the surface, but they have not resulted in any actual progress. It has now been several months since my purchase and more than three months since my temporary plate expired. I paid for this vehicle in good faith and fulfilled my financial obligations, yet I am still unable to legally operate it because the dealership has not produced the title or completed the registration process. Due to the lack of resolution, I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and the State’s Attorney’s Office. I strongly advise potential buyers to confirm that a dealership has clear title in hand before purchasing a vehicle. I also strongly advise potential buyers to run in the opposite direction because, not only have I still not received my plates as of March 26, 2026, but their responses have been full of what I believe to be misleading and deceptive statements. My experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. More
I went there to look at a 2022 Chevy Silverado. The truck was really nice and Raul was easy to work with. That's where things took a down turn. During the process I told Raul that I would want to do some "add ons" and was told that they do it all the time. The total came to around $1400. I also told him that I would be transferring my military plates to the new truck. When we got to the finance guy we found that the price of the truck on the purchase agreement was about $1500 higher than the listed price. We were told by him that it was because of the add ons, which was funny because they also listed the add ons at the bottom of the agreement. He tried multiple times to explain why there were 2 charges for the same thing on the contract, until I did the math myself. He seemed pretty upset and asked me if I was saying that they were "double dipping". Of course, I told him "YES". He went to see the manager and came back with his same messed up math. When we decided we were done and threatened to leave, it was only then that he went back to the manager to fix the issue. He came back with a revised purchase agreement that was pretty close to being right. The add ons were still kept in the price (meaning it was taxed) and I would be paying sales tax on it a second time when I use the money. My wife and I just accepted it because we were tired of sitting there for 2 hours and the amount was within a few dollars of what it should have been (and the truck was pretty nice). Fast forward 2 months and I get a new registration and plates in the mail. Again, something I had to pay for that wasn't needed. I called the dealership and was forwarded to their finance manager Amy Thompson. I got her voice mail. I left a message to call me to straighten it out. The following day, no call. I called back, and of course, voice mail, and no call back. I also called their title clerk, and yes, voice mail. I was hot by then. I called again and asked to speak to the business manager or the general manager. The receptionist said they were out. She took my message and told me that she would make it a priority to have the general manager call me first when he got in. Again, waited all day today for his call, but nothing. To me, it appears that either they are trying to scam a little money here or there on the agreement, or their finance staff is just incompetent. I also think that once you do make a purchase, they don't give a xxxx about you because they got their money. If you do shop here, bring your calculator and check every form line by line. More
what ever you do don't buy a car from CARWISE will do a bait and switch game. When you try to talk to someone regarding it you get Marco, a smart mouth mgr. They added a cars shield coverage that we said bait and switch game. When you try to talk to someone regarding it you get Marco, a smart mouth mgr. Visited them yesterday and was impressed with how CarWise treats customers like friends, creating a welcoming environment beyond just selling cars. I asked about the Wrangler, which my uncle recommended. Tho treats customers like friends, creating a welcoming environment beyond just selling cars. I read some of the positive reviews before going to this dealership and honestly wish my experience had been like theirs. Unfortunately, it was the exact opposite. This was one of the most frustrating and d dealership and honestly wish my experience had been like theirs. Unfortunately, it was the exact opposite. This was one of the most frustrating and deceptive car-buying experiences I have ever had. My salesperson was Jorgen Parend, and throughout the process I was given multiple statements that later turned out to be misleading or completely inaccurate. After spending more than six hours at the dealership, I felt pressured into terms that were not disclosed upfront. Before even arriving, I specifically asked whether the dealership required any mandatory add-ons or packages because I had previously dealt with a questionable dealership that tried that tactic. I was told no. However, after hours of negotiations and paperwork, I was suddenly told that I had to purchase a “car care package” costing about $899 or they would not sell me the vehicle. The explanation given was that they “would not make any money otherwise,” which makes very little sense considering the vehicle itself costs tens of thousands of dollars. For anyone considering buying a vehicle here, I strongly recommend protecting yourself by asking for the following before signing anything: • Ask to see the “Buy Rate.” This is the interest rate the lender actually approved you for. Anything higher that the dealer adds on top is typically markup. • Ask for a full itemized list of charges. This will show every fee, add-on, or package they are including in the deal. Do not rely solely on what a salesperson tells you verbally. • Compare prices carefully. I noticed the same vehicle listed about $1,000 higher on the dealership website than on the third-party site where I originally found it through Capital One Navigator. When I raised concerns with Sales Manager Marco Rivas, he appeared to be aware of the tactics being used. He asked if I would be willing to return the vehicle. I told him yes, immediately, and asked when I could bring it back. At that point I was told there might be a restocking fee, so I asked them to show me where that fee appears in the paperwork and what the amount would be. That conversation occurred on Monday, March 2, 2026. I have since called twice and left voicemails but have not received a response yet. If they truly want the car back, they can have it. This entire experience has been a lesson learned. I will also be filing formal complaints with the FTC, BBB, the Illinois Attorney General, and other appropriate consumer protection agencies so the situation can be reviewed. If you are considering buying a vehicle here, my advice is simple: be extremely cautious, ask for everything in writing, and do not allow yourself to be pressured after hours of negotiations. More
