In the end, I was pretty happy with the van I got working with with Carvana, but it was a lot of effort on the way there. The worst part of the experience was a set of delivery delays, that stretched the tim with with Carvana, but it was a lot of effort on the way there. The worst part of the experience was a set of delivery delays, that stretched the time I initially thought I would get the van by over 6 weeks. In this time I had to rent cars and then had to take ubers and lyfts to and from work. The delays seemed to be related to the van passing the California smog test, but I got repeated assurances that it was all just about done. I had to pay for insurance on the van while I was waiting for it. My family stopped believing that the van would every arrive. That said, the folks at Carvana tried pretty hard to help me and support me along the way: 1) The customer service reps were friendly and tried hard to help every single time 2) They eventually agreed to reimburse me $500 for economic costs associated with the delay and to reimburse my ubers and lyfts 3) They sent a lot of nice gifts and cheerful stuff when they delivered it. 4) It was a hard to find vehicle at a time when buying new or used cars has been very difficult because of production delays and shortages. I have to say that if the people on the phone had not been as kind and supportive, I might have given up along the line. So credit to Carvana customer service which helped make up for internal system problems that led to these delays. More
Complicated, expensive, difficult process. My first car was broken in transport with no recourse and no remorse. My bank had to work incredibly hard to meet ridiculous deadlines. Very little proactive follow up from Carvana throughout the months long process. Significant expense to myself leasing a vehicle as delays mounted. When the new car arrived there were some unreported flaws and one of the keys didn’t work. More
I have mixed emotions about Carvana. Initially I loved the whole process of purchasing on line and having my new car delivered to me. Unfortunately I only had my car for 5 days when it broke down. I also, was never asked if I just wanted to transfer my tag. So, I was issued a whole new tag and now I have to go to the DMV to get that switched on my own time. I'm just feeling a little frustrated now and inconvenienced about the whole process. More
