This is the way to buy a car! Totally painless and so quick. I knew what kind of car I wanted and found a great one. Whole process took me about 20 minutes. I have spent whole days at dealerships. II can only be honest it was scary at first alot of praying and faith in god. It's not every day you click a purchase on the internet for thousands of dollars but the care and professionalism , the cus praying and faith in god. 40 days later - Still Don't Have a Drivable Car We tried to purchase a car from Carvana on Friday (5/29) with delivery promised on Monday (6/1). I received a phone call on Saturday afternoon that w We tried to purchase a car from Carvana on Friday (5/29) with delivery promised on Monday (6/1). I received a phone call on Saturday afternoon that would be the first of MANY hours spent on the phone with their "advocates". About 30 minutes into this first conversation, the caller mentioned I had missed the deadline for Monday delivery. This was the first mention of a secret deadline that had not been listed in either a confirmation email or earlier voicemail. Next, the caller informed me that I could not transfer plates from my old car to the new one because my wife and I have different last names. While I was first told this was a state policy, the caller eventually admitted that it was a Carvana policy that they had no intention of changing. I was also told it would be illegal to drive in my state without the actual plates, so they would send them by Fed-Ex 24-48 hours after my delivery. While I was disappointed, I accepted this delay and continued with my purchase. The delivery was scheduled for 6/3. After my delivery window had come and gone on 6/3, I received a call that there was a mechanical issue with the car and it would not be delivered as promised. When the car was eventually delivered later in the week, the delivery person laughed at my expectation the plates would arrive in less than 2-4 weeks. When I asked if I could drive the car before then, I was told I could take my chances, given that the cars were "rarely" impounded for driving before the plates arrived. When another "advocate" called to tell me my 7-day trial was ending, I expressed my concern that I still couldn't drive the car. I was assured that the plates were on their way and would be there on Friday (6/12). When Friday passed, I called again and was promised they would there Monday morning. Wrong again. When the plates finally did arrive, there was no registration document included. So I had plates, but could not get the car inspected. I tried to get a copy online with the Department of Motor Vehicles, but Carvana had screwed up the paperwork and there was no insurance information. When I called Carvana, they said this was a common problem. They suggested I visit my local DMV (which is closed due to the pandemic) or just use the temporary plates (which previous "advocates" said were not valid in my state.) To summarize, Carvana made and BROKE the following promises - Car would be delivered 6/1 - Car would be delivered 6/3 - Plates would be delivered 6/5 - Plates would be delivered 6/12 - I would have 7 days to drive the car before deciding if I wanted to keep it. So instead of the promised car on Monday, June 1st, it is more than a month later and I still don't have a car that I can drive legally. It has been more than 30 days since I "purchased" the car and I am still carrying insurance on a car I can not drive, as well as the insurance on my old car. I had to re-register my old car so I could legally drive to the grocery store. For my time and trouble, I was offered a $25 discount on my purchase, an amount that was more frustrating than being offered nothing at all. Carvana makes promises they can't fulfill and offer nothing meaningful when they fail to deliver. Your local used car salesperson will likely be more upfront, honest, and able to understand the rules and regulation of registering a vehicle in your own state. More
