Everything was great except the check processing step. We were there for 5 hours trying to get the check approved. That process sucks. We have never bounced a check, have a 9.85 credit score, had $30,000 in More

Dear Sir, This is Skip Shakely I am the General Manager of Planet Hyundai Centennial. 1st let me appologize on behalf the dealership, the salesmanager and and the salesperson. We should never have entered noegotiations with you or your friend on the car in question. We did against my policy of selling a car that has not been reconditioned . To sell a car that has not been through the entire reconditioning process is like shooting in the dark. One has no idea what needs to be done to a car prior to it going all the way through the process. The areas you were concerned about would surely have been taken care of in that process and were. I do resent the fact that you are labeling the dealership as unscupulous because we did enter in to negotiations in good faith prior to the car being reconditioned. That particular car has since been sold and all of the areas you were concerned about corrected except for the tires which were within the legal limits and did not need replacing. Secondly, as far as the trade in, in question. It is my understanding that this car didn't run because of a blown engine and was not present for us to even see. Again shooting in the dark. Sir all we did was try to make a deal in good faith on a car that needed to be reconditioned which we did. We certainly never tried to take advantage of anyone. If anyone was taken advantage of it would be us for trying to help a customer buy a nice low mileage one owner trade in. The only reason the price changed from what we agreed to was when you demanded that new tires be thrown in at a price we already agreed to. It was our mistake to assume that doing business with someone in good faith means you take them at their word. We were never given the chance to do that when you backed up on yours by demanding new tires be thrown in at the same price we already negotiated. As we all know there are always 2 sides to every story. If you care to discuss this further I will certainly make the time to discuss it with you but I will not have my people,or my dealership be name called or demeaned as you have in your review. Everything could have been worked out amicably with the proper attitude and conduct.

Mr. Shakely, Your comments make me shake my head with concern. Let me address them... First, the tires in question may have been within the legal limits, but that is a sad minimum threshold to stand behind. On our test drive, the car had such little grip that the tires spun on 4 separate occasions taking off from stoplights and slid (under-steered) while cornering 3 times, not from over-acceleration, but from a true lack of tread required to achieve grip. It wasn't from the weather either, as the car we drove to the dealership in didn't do any of that. Sure, you can measure tread depth on the reinforced shoulder of a tire and get a nice deep reading, or you can measure it in the middle where the actual contact patch is and have it be more relevant. I observed Jesse measuring on the shoulder which is a completely unrealistic measurement. He stated the front left tire to have a depth of 7/32" when that tire brand new will only be 9-10/32". There was no way that tire had 70-80% tread left as evident by our test drive. Second, when my friend came into the dealership the first time, Anthony told her that he could only give her $100 for her trade in because of the great expense of getting it to the dealership... yet magically when we were negotiating, I requested $500 which was knocked down to $342 due to the expense of the tow. The information given about the car was the same on both occasions, yet magically we were quoted $242 more. You and I both know that car will be sold at auction and you will get at least $500 for it... the transmission is worth that alone. The fact that Anthony purposefully low-balled her shows that he was certainly trying to take advantage of her.. no ifs, ands or buts. Third, please save me that bit about "if anyone was taken advantage of it was you for trying to help a customer buy a nice low mileage one owner trade in"... You are in it for a business, not a charity. It is your job to make the most profit per vehicle, and it is the consumer's job to get the lowest price they can... and they seldom are the same. Your last paragraph is where you are deeply mistaken, and in such have had facts left out by your staff. Jesse came to me with the $9,000 OTD price and I told him the specific items of concern I had that would have to be replaced/fixed before the car could leave the lot. I was told on 4 different occasions by 3 different staff members in an hour that "not to worry, all of those items would be taken care of during our inspection, it's state law". So... I was reassured that you would fix my concerns AND have the car out the door at $9000. It wasn't until we put pen to paper and I said that I wanted everything that was going to be taken care of during the inspection to be put down in ink just for my own peace of mind that the tune started to change. I'm sorry, but I never backed up on any offer, as I stated my concerns clearly from the moment the car was pulled into the garage and we inspected it. You are correct, there are two sides to every story and Jesse is not being truthful with you. I'm sure to save face with you, he told you a different account. Jesse's attitude during the entire process was unprofessional and with a very large chip on his shoulder. If you would like to address proper attitude and conduct, we can start there.
