Not impressed anymore During a routine service appointment I ran into some minor issues that showed the dealerships true nature. During the service it was discovered that During a routine service appointment I ran into some minor issues that showed the dealerships true nature. During the service it was discovered that my aftermarket shocks (that were purchased and installed at the dealership) caused my rear break lines to fray. It was recommend that I replace the lines with stainless lines, which I completely agree with and was planning on swapping this summer anyway. However, it became my problem even though these shocks were installed by this same shop. The car was deemed unsafe so I was in a pickle and needed to replace the lines. Thankfully, Nick from service agreed to assist and meet me 1/2 way of the labor. Fair, considering. My first issue with the dealership was their attitude that since they were aftermarket parts (which were purchased and installed by them) it was ultimately my problem. Do they not stand by their workmanship, products they sell, etc.? They just didn’t grasp the fact that if I was in an accident due to the break lines they would most likely be held accountable to some degree, I’m sure a xxxxxxx lawyer would be salivating as he chased my ambulance. If I purchased and installed the shocks and caused this issue I wouldn’t have blinked an eye and owned the issue. But, since they installed them and didn’t recommend that I upgrade the lines when the shocks were installed I felt they should own some of the issue. Really just felt let down overall. Thanks to Nick my faith was partially restored (Nick even squeezed me in late in the day to help me out). Thank you Nick! All was good until I returned to my Jeep. I noticed that they hadn’t rotated the tires correctly, all five tires to be exact (Wrangler). I immediately went into the advisor area and inquired. The response I got was: “it’s our policy not to rotate all five tires, you’re supposed to request it”. That is verbatim. The service advisor did say that she was sorry for not asking me (as that would be the right thing to do) when I dropped the car off. I’m not upset with her, she is in fact human. I think the “policy” is a bloody embarrassing joke. Now I’ve owned this Jeep for 2 1/2 years and every six months the tires are rotated, all five. I can always tell due to marks or pebbles in the spare when I drop off and pickup and notice it being rotated in when I pick up the Jeep. And yes, on occasion I have been asked if I want all five rotated. Naturally, yes please is the obvious answer. I think what the policy should be is if you have a full spare tire it is mandatory that it is rotated in. It seems completely lazy, incompetent and just a complete lack of common sense not to rotate this tire into the mix. If this is a labor issue, the policy should be to charge for the fifth tire. They charge extra for synthetic oil over traditional and I’m sure they charge more for a 8 cylinder over a 6 or 4 cylinder car. This isn’t rocket surgery! I don’t know if I will return to this dealership. It really is a shame, I like the staff and the “Jeep Grill”. And this is my second Jeep purchased at this location (4-years overall of being a loyal customer). After the lack of basic care with the tire rotation “policy” I feel I will be giving another dealership a try. Too bad, I am (fact) purchasing the new Jeep Gladiator when the diesel version is released and not only will Central lose revenue for service but also a new JT sale. I guess I’ll just keep calm and carry my money else where. More
