BMW North America has strict policies in place that will not allow the vehicle to be serviced unless within the exception of 2000 miles or within the time allocated on the key read. Mr O'Hanrahan, I certainly understand that there are guidelines and policies that all businesses adhere too. Durning my career in business, I managed service organizations in Boise, Idaho, Salt Lake City, Utah and Seattle, Washington. We also had policies and guidelines to guide our business but I also understood that sometimes customer accommodations were made. I did not want to go into personal details but I will be traveling throughout the United States for the next two to three months, returning the respect and friendship to relatives and close friends that attended my late wife's Celebration of Life, two months prior. This will involve driving several thousand miles from the east to the west coast, beginning in Alabama! With every vehicle I have purchased, I have always had the first oil service performed early, regardless of the "key read". In this case, I also did not want the "first" service performed on the road, as I am sure you can understand. You're strict adherence to this policy and reluctance to meet my needs, have made this "situation poor", as you stated in your earlier response. Arrangements have now been made to begin my trip on Wednesday the 5th and I do not have time, regardless of any "accommodation" you might feel like graciously extending, if any. We are sure you have found that shopping out of state can be different than shopping at your local dealer. We have also found that different states have different business models and the one we presented to you is very common here in Arizona. The competition has gotten so fierce that we do have to charge fees etc. and our clients tend to understand the business model we present. As far as the vehicle being sold ahead of you; well, that we cannot control. It seems that the salesperson tried to reach out to you many times without an answer of if you wanted to complete the transaction or not and in the meantime, another client agreed to purchase the car. The dealership wasted my time while selling the car for a few more dollars instead of giving me an opportunity to respond to the quote. Of course, once the dealership and management recognized that the vehicle was undervalued for the current market, immediately with the first opportunity the new selling price was placed for a bid at several thousand dollars higher. Frankly, very disappointed with their business practices and commitment. Sometimes sincerity and loyalty can reach longer than the monetary remuneration. I drive an x7 and a 530e currently. Today, with the addition of the 2 series I feel very comfortable that the latter has been a better decision than the showing 330i offered at Chapman dealership for just under $30,000 now selling for over $34,000.. As a physician I was expecting more respect and consideration, but now I understand that healthcare is a different stratosphere in service and devotion. Orlando Deffer, MD,
