We sincerely apologize to Mr. & Mrs. Dickerson for the experience they recount. That is completely contrary to the way Chapman does business & the reputation we've earned over 50+ years of operating. Please allow me to address the items you present to see if we can get a better understanding as to what happened. As regards the loan approval, your loan was indeed approved through America 1st CU but they did not grant us the exact rate we were hoping for as a result of the negative equity brought into the transaction from your trade in. The difference wasn't insurmountable so Chapman kept your rate the same as agreed upon & performed a "buy down" at their expense. This was to your benefit. It was funded from the lender 16 working days later. Often people confuse approval with funding. Upon completion of the funding a check was sent to your credit union in Tennessee. It arrived prior to the expiration of the quoted payoff but the CU required additional monies to clear the loan. Chapman paid those monies without looking to you for reimbursement even though that is technically the responsibility of the purchaser. Your transaction had a lot of "moving parts" and was far from traditional. You live in CA from what I can determine, your loan was with a lender in Tennessee, you register your vehicles in VA & you were buying in NV! Since you register in VA, the paperwork was sent to the DMV there. Chapman would only provide you with a "temporary operating permit" to drive the vehicle until such time as you could complete the registration. According to UPS the documents for registration were delivered to the DMV in Abingdon, VA on 7/1 VIA there tracking UPS#1Z97XV820198792671. Unfortunately many of the DMVs have been closed or otherwise operating under reduced hours during COVID. We can't accurately speak as to the VA DMV. I do know that the authorities in NV & many other states are not citing drivers for operating vehicles with expired plates or temporaries as they recognize that DMVs are under a lot of stress during this time. I'm very disappointed that your truck was not delivered to you clean. There is no excuse for that. If you have a dealer in your market that you have selected to be your servicing dealer please share that with us & we will make arrangements for a complete cleaning at our expense. I'm very surprised to learn that Kody spoke to you in anything different from a courteous tone. He has been with us going on two years while pursuing his degree at UNLV. He currently enjoys a 96.8% CSI rating from his clients & this is the 1st instance I've heard of where he was less than respectful. We will certainly address that. The use of cell phones allows our people to be more responsive. If you called into the dealership & were transferred to his cell phone we would still have a recording of the call. If he initiated the call to you from him phone we would not. Allow me to put your mind at ease regarding the price you paid for your new truck. The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price was $59275. After the incentives your price for the truck was $54241, more than $5000 below that. In addition we allowed you more for your Ford trade than it was worth, further reducing the net price to you. Beyond that I've already shared that Chapman paid to maintain the interest rate offered & paid more than was agreed to on the contract to your CU to retire the loan for your trade. The net result is that you received a very good deal on the RAM 3500. That being said, it is obvious to us based on the concerns you share, that we could have done a much better job in communicating with you & in the overall service we provided. For those mistakes on our part, we humbly apologize. Josh indicates to me that the plates were sent to the VA address as you requested. Please let me know if you can verify delivery.
