I have given the dealership this rating because it was a pleasant experience from the moment I walked in. I came in wanting to see a particular vehicle but it had already been sold.Elmer and Mike asked me a few questions to determine my needs, then they asked me if I would consider a different vehicle or if I absolutely wanted the one I came in to look at. I loved that they gave me a choice and did not try to convince me that I wanted something else. They were not the stero-typed "Salesmen". I felt as if I was talking to a neighbor and they were genuinely interested in what I wanted and not what they wanted to sell me. I must add that Grossinger as a whole is more interested in customer service than anything else. I am very impressed with Elmer and Mike and the Grossinger Dealership. Even Gary Grossinger took the time to come out of his office to shake my hand. I have NEVER had that happen anywhere before. Grossinger is a dealership that I would definately go back to. They earned my trust yesterday. Some people might say that I had this pleasant experience yesterday because I was buying a vehicle and they were doing their job, but I want everyone to know that today I emailed Elmer and called him with a question. Not only did he respond to my email right away, but when I called him, I was NOT placed on hold and then told he'd have to call me back. I got him directly! This is what customer service is all about. Making the customer feel like they're the only customer in the world. Grossinger understands the customer service concept and so do the employees. I drove all the way from Glendale Heights to Palatine and I am certainly happy I did! I didn't have this experience with a dealership in my area at all...not even close. More
My daughter was born severly premature two years ago. Because of her prematurity, she was in the hospital for 196 days which racked up over 2 million dollars worth of medical bills. Unfortunately, I had Because of her prematurity, she was in the hospital for 196 days which racked up over 2 million dollars worth of medical bills. Unfortunately, I had no other choice than to file for bankruptcy in order to "start over." When I started looking for a new SUV, I had a feeling that I would be pushed away the moment I mentioned my situation. I was actually pushed away by a couple of dealerships (non-Chevrolet). I did my research on the Equinox and liked it very much. I emailed the dealership and received an instant response from Tom. Tom was incredibly helpful with making sure the Equinox was the car I wanted and the options I needed. I finally let Tom in on my financial hardship. Tom's first words were, "I want to get this done for you." Tom spent a great deal of time on the phone with the bank to secure financing for me after sending in my credit application. Next think I knew, he let me know I was approved. I went into the dealership that evening and met Leonard who took over where Tom left off. Leonard was so helpful in showing me the ins and outs of the Equinox (which I fell in love with). Next step was going to financing where Frank was super quick in getting my paperwork all ready, signed and sent me on my way. Everyone in the dealership is incredibly personable, nice people. I felt like my business was valuable to them and I wasn't "shunned" for my financial situation. I truly feel like I was given a second chance. Thanks to the dealership, not only do I have a brand new car, I have a loan that will help me to rebuild my credit. The Equinox is a perfect vehicle, not only for me but especially for my disabled daughter. I've officially become a lifelong customer of Chevrolet and will be an ongoing loyal customer to Grossinger. Elmer, Tom and Fred made what could have been a terrible leasing experience in one of the best leasing experiences I had in 30 YEARS. Tom started it with being very responsive of the internet and even mo leasing experience in one of the best leasing experiences I had in 30 YEARS. Tom started it with being very responsive of the internet and even more responsive when I met him in person. Never really said we can't do this, always said this is how we can do this. Tom passed over to Elmer and he kept the same high level of customer service going. I have had 13 GM cars since 1980 and Elmer was the FIRST Sales Rep to go through all the basic controls of my new car Before I left the dealership. He introduced me to all the Key people in the Service department. He told me about the first Oil Change, the free car washes and the service promos that would be sent to me. He made feel like I was his ONLY CUSTOMER not just one of many. Now let me tell about Fred "The Wizard" Kodroff. Fred is the Finance Mgr for Grossinger and he is the First finance person that I have dealt with in both personal and through business that I can has a very human side. Fred took a bad situation as far leasing wash concerned and NEVER GAVE UP!!!!!! In the face of a couple issues with my Credit, Fred MADE IT HAPPEN. All I can say is if you want to buy or lease a car these are the guys you want working for you. Gary Grossinger should be very proud of this team. More
Everything about this experience was at the top of the charts compared to past experiences. We've felt exhausted after past purchases, but this time around left us excited about what had just been accomp charts compared to past experiences. We've felt exhausted after past purchases, but this time around left us excited about what had just been accomplished. From the first contacts with Tom, who responded to our Internet inquiry in a personable and no-nonsense manner, we sensed that this was going to be a positive experience. Then we moved onto several hours of tireless legwork with Kirk, who couldn't have treated us any better if we were his best friends. As we looked over a number of cars in below freezing weather, Kirk remained so patient and informative. We felt he was genuinely as excited about us getting a new car as we were. Then the closing process with Fred to wrap up the paperwork, a low point of the process at other dealers, turned out to be as amicable and positive as we could ever have hoped for. All of these guys made it very enjoyable experience from start to finish, and gave us the feeling that they were looking out for our best interest. Even the guys who cleaned up the car, Elmer in sales, and Tony in service were friendly and fun to interact with. Pressure that we've experienced in past purchases at other dealers was non-existent. We loved the honest and up front approach throughout the process. If what we experienced is happening everyday at Grossinger Chevrolet, then the other dealers in the area are going to have to step it up to compete with these guys! More
My wife and I recently purchased the Equinox from Grossinger (Kevin Feret) and they were extremely patient and helpful. We had particular style/amenities that we wanted and he respected our requests – he did not try and sell us on alternate vehicles. After a great deal of work, Kevin found the car that we wanted and we did not have to make any sacrifices. I would encourage my family/friends to use Grossinger. Matt Albrecht More
I thought the sales rep was very friendly. He worked on getting the price I wanted and I was satisfied with his performance, although it did take some amount of haggling. The used van I went in to look at getting the price I wanted and I was satisfied with his performance, although it did take some amount of haggling. The used van I went in to look at was clean, however had no gas at the time I wanted to test drive so there was a bit of a wait. Overall, the dealership won my business because they had what I was looking for and they met my price. More
I came to Grossinger Chevy on Dec 10, 2009 one of the coldest nights in IL. I met with Tom Rekosh and Leonard Buie who was my salesperson. Tom also made me aware every hour about my status that I am approved. Both gentlemen service was very nice and polite the entire experience I had with Grossinger Chevy and I didn't feel pressure at all into purchasing a car I didn't want. I do believe the both of them deserve a raise ;-) More

The car was delivered on time at the advertised price without any sales trouble. All of the service has been performed in their service department without any problems. I brought the car in on December 9th,2009 for a before it goes out of warranty checkup. A few minor problems were found and cheerfully repaired while I waited. The service manager, Brian Poteracki, was professional and prompt. I purchase all of my new Chevys and parts from this dealership and have sent quite a few friends there for purchase of new and used vehicles hearing nothing but good back from them. Gary Grossinger has always been accessible when I have been in the dealership. Keep up the good work! More
I went to Grossinger Chevy tonight to purchase a car. I came with my wife and open checkbook. We had called ahead and the Traverse we wished to to test drive was waiting for us. We loved it. We sat down came with my wife and open checkbook. We had called ahead and the Traverse we wished to to test drive was waiting for us. We loved it. We sat down at Kevins desk and started to go over the pricing which when presented to us, was $2,000 higher then we had seen online which was what had brought us into grossinger initially. Knowing something was amiss, I contacted castle chevy which I had been working with as well to get a competitive quote. To make a long story short, the guy at castle confirmed my suspicion that grossinger advertised a lower price to get you in the door and then tried to bait and switch you once there. I still wanted to buy that car, so I told Yedi that I needed a reason to buy today. I told him that there had to be some sort of elegant negotiable, something with a perceived value to the customer that cost the dealer very little. He refused to budge. He basically gave me a take it or leave scenario and let me know that it was his interest, and not the interest of grossinger chevrolet that he had in mind. He made it impossible to buy from grossinger. I'm in sales and I work in an industry very similar in that i'm held to a monthly quota and everybody feels there is a better deal somewhere else whether it's related to service or price. The last thing I would ever do, however is separate myself from the brand name. What Yedi did, was make it that I was buying from him and not grossinger and not chevy. At the end of the day, people buy from people they like. Yedi made it impossible to buy from Grossinger making the transaction all about him. At one point he told me, you could write a letter to mr grossinger, i don't care, I will still have a job tomorrow and I will still be in charge of this dealership. It was the worst salesmanship I have ever seen. He made it impossible to buy. He chose to argue instead of ask questions. He chose to put the fact that the website advertises a price lower then what I can purchase the car for as "my misinterpretation" and he reference it several times. Between my wife and I, we have several advanced degrees and are smart enough to see that their website advertises the cars for about $2,000 less then everybody else. It was like that commercial for the bank with the kid and the pony. Complete bait and switch. Regardless, rather then asking questions, Yedi tried to bull doze his way through. Rather then asking a simple, "what do we have to do to move past this?" Yedi tried to impress upon my wife and I that we were the ones that were simply misinterpreting the web site after Kevin had told us that he had had 3 other people just today saying the same thing.... Grossinger Chevrolet has a 24 month rating of 1.7 out of 5 on this site and I can see why. The reviews all indicate the same the thing that I was told by Yedi. "If you're not going to buy the car, someone else will." we don't care. It's amazing, with GM losing it's CEO last week and uncertainty surrounding the viability of the company, that I have to deal with a guy like Yedi who flat out did not want to make a sale. He is just not that smart of a human being. I told him that he needed to make some sort of concession for getting me down there on a false price and it didn't need to be on the price of the vehicle and could be an extra year of Onstar or a full year of XM and he said, "Mr Grossinger gives me the flexibility to make those kind of deals but I'm just not going to do it." Seriously? More
I live near St. Louis Mo which is over 300 miles and 5 hours away from the Chicago area. However, I saw a price on AutoTrader.com for a used blue 09 chevy malibu that was located at this dealership. Bec hours away from the Chicago area. However, I saw a price on AutoTrader.com for a used blue 09 chevy malibu that was located at this dealership. Because the prices of malibus seemed to be a couple grand cheaper in the Chicago area, I decided to go up there and buy the car I wanted. The week previous to me going up to Chicago to buy a malibu, I spoke to a Tom Rekosh at Grossinger chevy in Palatine on the phone 3-4 times, each time asking him the same questions about the car. I asked him if the car was damaged, if it had a clean car fax and if it was indeed an LT and not an LS. Each time I was assured the car had absolutely NO damage, clean carfax and it was definitely an LT. I wanted to check everything out thoroughly before I made this trip all the way up there and was worried it wasn't what they were saying, but my step dad reassured me it would be fine b/c he's had great experiences with AutoTrader. I left the St. Louis area on friday and drove the 3 hrs to my parents place. We leave at 7 am on a Saturday morning to get there at 9am (my parents place is only 2 hrs away). I saw the car and was originally excited b/c the driver's side looked prestine and the interior classy but then as the salesman was getting me the keys for a test drive, my step dad walked around to the passenger side and observed extensive damage. It looked as if the car was driven along a cement post from the front to back. The rear end was all smashed in, the car looked warped with dents, and all the panels on the passenger side were severely scratched. Mind you, i looked at the pictures online and no damage was apparent and I was lied to on the phone several times even though I told Tom Rekosh I was coming all the way from St. Louis. Also, when we asked Tom Rekosh and our current salesman about the damage they seriously sat there and told us they "didn't know" the car was damaged! Needless to say, my family and I left without purchasing a car from the Palatine dealership. Tom Rekosh is an absolute liar and a cheat! I had money in hand to buy this car. My family and I were steaming after dealing with Grossinger chevy in Palatine. Quite the experience for going out and buying my first car. If anyone sees a used blue 09 chevy malibu LT online for this dealership, don't worry i've already got your back. Don't waste the time, trip, or money. This place sucks. More
