Good Morning Kazem, I'm sorry that you have a water leak coming into the vehicle of course, and nobody wants to deal with that sort of issue. . Unfortunately your vehicle is very far out of warranty being a 2017 with 133k miles on it. The Diagnostic charge was to water test the vehicle, take down and apart sections of the roof, locate the point of entry and figure out what needs to be done in order to provide you an estimate or direction to repair the vehicle. The fee is so the technician and staff is still paid for all the time and energy required to perform those steps and get you a concrete failure point. In your situation, it looks like we duplicated your water leak concern, and found water coming in the front left corner through the grab handle under the headliner. We removed the grab handle and part of the headliner to find a crack in the sunroof cassette. The sunroof cassette is bonded/sealed to the body of the vehicle and needs to be cut out, cleaned, have the body repaired due to the rust so this doesn't continue and happen again. Due to the possible rust of the body, the proper repair of new sunroof cassette reglued/sealed to the car is a something a body shop should handle as we aren't equipped to perform body work, and based on the age/mileage of the car it may not make financial sense to to do this. I hope this clarifies the Diagnostic charge, and why we charged it. If it was simply been clogged sunroof drains, or something to that nature, we would have cleared them and discounted the diagnostic fee to the repair amount. We would not have charged a fee of course if you had come in an said I need a quote for a sunroof cassette because there is a crack in it which you can now do at other locations. We would simply look up and give you an estimate or referred you to a body shop, but the testing, taking apart, and reassembling of things is time consuming and we can't perform those services free of charge as I hope you can understand. Paul was a bit shocked to see you left this survey, and he said you were a pleasure to deal with, so I'm sorry if the information above wasn't clearly relayed and we obviously failed explain everything we did in order to diagnose your concern. If you would like a referral to the closest Volkswagen / Audi Certified Body Shop I'll be more than happy to get that to you as well. My apologies again if we failed to communicate properly.
