Talked to Alex Landa several times in the past few days before making the 60-mile round trip to look at the 2014 Corvette Z51 today 01/11/22. In fact, someone called me as I was leaving to confirm my appoi before making the 60-mile round trip to look at the 2014 Corvette Z51 today 01/11/22. In fact, someone called me as I was leaving to confirm my appointment. Never actually met Alex, even tho I asked for him. Instead a young salesman introduced himself & took us over to the vehicle. We spent 45 min. closely looking over the car & asking numerous questions, many of which the salesman was unable to answer. Frankly, he knew nothing about Corvettes. He printed the Carfax report & GM specifications & with him, reviewed all the items on the list, when suddenly the sales bell rang, indicating a car had been sold. Everyone in the showroom applauded & when we asked our salesman which car it was, he said "that one" and pointed to the Corvette we had just spent all this time looking at and discussing. Obviously, the entire staff saw us looking at the vehicle and no one even gave us the courtesy of informing us that someone else was in the showroom at that same time making an offer on that vehicle. No one else ever came near the vehicle while we were there. We came in with the intent of making an offer on that car; had we been informed that someone else was seriously considering the vehicle, we would not have driven all that way. It's not like we would have changed our minds and settled for a truck instead--we were only interested in the Vette. My wife and I felt humiliated and deeply disappointed--to not even have had a chance to make an offer, but also the fact that everyone there apparently knew that another offer had already been made (probably before we even arrived, since no one was looking at the car while we were there). Times may be tough in automobile sales, but that was a despicable way to treat potential customers. We felt like we were being used as bait to close the dealer with the other customer. Extremely unlikely we would EVER return to City Chevrolet of Grayslake. More
