I contacted just about every Toyota dealership in the LA & OC area. I like to deal directly with the internet/Fleet sales teams and negotiate from home. This dealership was by far the most difficult to deal & OC area. I like to deal directly with the internet/Fleet sales teams and negotiate from home. This dealership was by far the most difficult to deal with. Every Toyota dealership I contacted, except for this one and one other, was willing to assist me and work with me under my terms and provided what I asked, a simple out the door price for an exact new vehicle I was looking to buy. This dealership initially refused to provide an out the door price directly. They had an attitude of my way or the highway. When Avril Morales told us “We don't want to get into a bidding war with another dealer.” It was obvious that they did not want to compete against other dealerships. Odd as most, all the other dealers were very willing to compete. I received so many other detailed itemized quotes from other dealers with very few questions asked, and since we were dealing directly with the internet sales team, they absolutely knew they were competing with other dealers and were just grateful for the opportunity to compete. Claremont insisted that I use their website and figure out my own out the door price. I did and their online system provided me with a very high quote, compared to all the others. Also, because it was a price that I had created/built on an online site with choices I had to click on, that I was unsure of, I knew that I could not count on the price being exact or correct. I wrote them off early on, but they kept contacting us and we kept telling them to just provide their best out the door price. At one point their fleet manager did provide a quote that was just MSRP, so I did not see that as a serious attempt, but just trying to look like compliance to our request. When told that they were not even close, they kept insisting we go down and talk to them personally at the dealership. It would have been so unfair to all the other dealerships that were happy to work with us, to compete/earn our business, to give them that advantage of a visit when they would never provide the assistance, we requested of them. They were asking for special treatment from us when they were the least accommodating. I am part of a huge extended family that all come to me to assist them when buying a car. So I am often involved in the purchase of a new car on average every other year. My plan is to permanently remove Claremont Toyota from my list of contacts for all future Car purchases that I am involved with. They ended up being just a big waste of time. It’s unfortunate. I did purchase a new 2019 Camry from Claremont, that is the car I currently drive now. I had a much different experience back in 2019. I am telling everyone I know and would recommend all Car shoppers that prefer to do their Car shopping/negotiations online go elsewhere as this dealership will absolutely be a waste of your time. More
