Traditional sales approach, overloaded service department I bought a used F-150 here. I'm pleased with the truck. The sales experience is typical of most "old school" dealerships. They try to keep you on site as long as possible and delay giving you answers as long as possible -- in other words, "the grind." The idea is that you are so worn down by the time you get an answer that you will agree to almost anything. Many dealerships do this, so it must work, but I find it unpleasant. I've never bought a second vehicle from a dealership that does this to me. I recently had my truck towed here for service. It was a month beyond the bumper-to-bumper warranty, so I had to pay full price for the repair, even though the problem (faulty cylinder head temperature sensor) is fairly common with the model. I was a bit disappointed by this. The service department at Cloninger Ford in Morganton seem to be overloaded. My truck broke down on Saturday before Labor Day, so the dealership was closed until the following Tuesday. I called early Tuesday and the earliest time available was 11AM on Wednesday. The truck was towed to Cloninger around noon Tuesday. I called for an update Wednesday afternoon. At that time they had not "looked at it" but said they would do so that day. It was actually the next day before they took any action on my problem, and the work was completed late in the business day on Thursday. If they'd managed to fix it Tuesday, I would have been delighted with the timeliness. Since I had a service appointment on Wednesday, I expected that it would get fixed Wednesday. Instead, it took a day longer. My overall impression of the service department is that they are cramped for space and probably need more mechanics to handle the workload. More

Will not repair issue I took my 2014 Focus to Cloninger for a recall on the fuel tank. They performed the recall but said that did not fix the issue. The check engine lig I took my 2014 Focus to Cloninger for a recall on the fuel tank. They performed the recall but said that did not fix the issue. The check engine light is still on for that one. Then I took it back for a second recall on the door latches. After they performed that work the back up lights now come on every time I press the brake pedal. They said that they did not cause the issue. It did not do that prior to them working on the car. They told me that they could check it but they would have to charge me. I had reservations about taking to Cloninger in the first place. I should have listened to my intuition. More

I only wised they were closer to where we live. I would go there for all my Ford service work. More
