Multiple Attempts to Perpetrate Fraud by Service Department I’ve twice taken my vehicle for service at this dealership. The first time, I was told my air filter and cabin air filter were both in the “yellow” an I’ve twice taken my vehicle for service at this dealership. The first time, I was told my air filter and cabin air filter were both in the “yellow” and would need to be replaced very soon. I had replaced both filters 1/4-mile down the road, just before I brought them the vehicle to change the oil. When I brought it to the service advisor, he initially tried to tell me that “filters get dirty faster than you think.” After I told him it wasn’t possible and that I wanted a manager to look at it: the manager looked at it with the service advisor; apologized profusely, and said he was going to counsel the service technician as the filters were clearly brand-new; and gave me a card for a free oil change. This card was the only reason I came back to the dealership a second time - this time, also for an oil change. I again replaced the air filters prior to arriving, and this time they did not say they needed to be replaced. Instead, they said two of my tires needed to be replaced immediately as they were “in the red, with only 3/32 of tread left”. I asked the service advisor which two tires it was, and I was told the front ones. I pointed out the fact the tires only had 18,000 miles on them and were rated for 60,000 tires. The service advisor conceded that, even “eyeballing” the tires, they had plenty of tread remaining and were not in need of replacement. I asked for a manager, and he said he would address the issue with the technician and asked for another opportunity to show me he was making positive changes in the service department. I told him about my previous experience, and the fact I had already given the dealership a second chance by coming in on this date. He asked if I had told the service advisor about the card for a free oil change; I told him I had not for 2 reasons: first, I realized after the car was taken back for the oil change, I realized I forgot to bring the card with me; I simply paid for the oil change because I had ordered the service; second, and more importantly, I didn’t mention the card because I wanted to get a true picture of whether the dealership had addressed the issue of trying to defraud customers - an experience that wasn’t influenced by knowledge that a particular vehicle needed special attention because it’s owner had already caught them previously trying to perpetrate fraud. After suggesting that I was in the wrong for not having tipped the service advisor off in advance of the oil change, the service manager made a series of excuses, including the fact that the service was done without him looking over the shoulder of the technician (I pointed out he cannot physically look over the shoulder of every technician and questioned how they can properly and safely service vehicles if they see this as the necessary solution to the problem); (in the midst of this discussion, the service manager walked up and started eavesdropping; he asked to re-measure the tread depth and suggested to the service manager that the technician “must have been reading the wrong side of the tread-depth gauge”. Despite this excuse, the gauge was still color-coded, and the gauge showed the tread was still in the “green”); the service manager stated that some technicians are directly out of school and may not know everything yet (I pointed out the fact measuring tread depth is one of the simplest things that can be done to a vehicle and questioned how someone can be trained at a school on how to do more complex tasks like replacing brakes or rebuilding a transmission but not know how to measure tread depth); he countered this that some technicians don’t have formal schooling and that the technician may need to learn how to measure the tread depth properly (after I asked, the service manager confirmed this was not a new technician - I pointed out the fact the technician had been allowed to do the job without the oversight was indicative of either gross negligence, or there was willful intent to defraud - with the emergent, systemic pattern I was observing pointing to the latter). After all of the excuses presented by the service manager were shown to be just that, excuses, the service manager simply kept repeating that he was trying to make things better and that he could do nothing to make it right if I wouldn’t agree to keep bringing my vehicle back for additional service at the dealership. I made it clear to him that I had already been the victim of the dealership’s attempts to perpetrate fraud on two occasions, and I would not be submitting myself to a third attempt. More

The clerk was speaking to me in Spanish and with a careless answers like he didn’t care at all. If choose to return to this dealership I hope I don’t see or interact with this individual.
