Dear Dissatisfied, I would like the opportunity to review your last service visit. As I understand, you were told that your brakes had more than 50% wear left on them, and we told you that the readings were 2 + 3mm. Clearly there is a difference and I would like the opportunity to clear this up. Our technicians are factory trained and very familiar with the product. Many times outside facilities make mistakes due to lack of familiarity of the product. Please allow me to inspect the vehicle, along with you and my technical supervisor. This way we can explain why we recommended replacement of the brakes. If, by any chance we made a mistake, then I would like the opportunity to correct it. If we made a mistake, we want to do whatever we can to correct it, but we need to have your vehicle here in order to begin. It is very difficult to move forward with the amount of information you have provided, as we have no way to identify who you are, when you were here, what vehicle you are speaking of, or who could have been involved with the inspection of your vehicle. When we know a customer is coming in to see a vehicle and that vehicle suddenly is sold before they get here, we make it a point to call the customer and advise them NOT to come in until we find a suitable vehicle that meets the same criteria. In your case we gave you the impression that we were going to meet your payment. It was unintentional. I have spoken to both employees involved and the only thing I can say is we let you down and I’m sorry we wasted your time. Your mother responded to a direct mail piece that we sent out to many people in the area. When a prospect comes into the dealership we frequently bring them inside out of the heat to discuss what vehicles would fit their budget. Part of that process is finding out what they owe on their present vehicle and running credit with the customer's approval to qualify them for an interest rate. This allows us to quote more accurate payments for a new vehicle. THERE IS NO WAY WE COULD RUN CREDIT UNLESS YOUR MOTHER GAVE US HER INFORMATION. There is no way to get date of birth and social security number unless a customer gives it to us. When we submit a credit application we usually check several banks in order to get the best rate. This causes several credit inquiries on a customer's credit file. This alarms some customers because they feel that more than one inquiry will hurt their credit score more. NOT TRUE.
