Ms Newell, I was not involved in your transaction but my General Sales Manager probably was slightly mean because he was trying to collect the down payment on your vehicle from March 6th (almost a month and a half). Preowned vehicles carry warranties, unfortunately the gas tank is a non covered warranty item. Extended service contracts were presented to you at the point of sale which you refused. It wasn't a down payment and it has nothing to do with my sales experience. Nothing excuses the way I was treated and I wish I would have known about this site before I went to Colonial and from the post on here I would have no better than to buy a car from this dealership.

It sounds like your experience was less than stellar. What I try to express to any prospective customer is that what we do is provide a service. After the service is provided we rely on a MACHINE (car) to execute and provide an enjoyable means of transportation. It sounds like your car may have had malfuntions on it and for that I am sorry. I noticed that you posted that you felt you were treated differently because of your gender. I can assure you that here at Colonial Hyundai we follow a strict sales process that does not deviate based on gender. I'm sorry that you felt pressured, I assure you that was not our goal. We sell over 2500 vehicles a year, new/pre-owned and this site serves as a barometer to gauge our performance. Clay did you read my review? An $18000 purchase on a used vehicle is a big deal, I wanted time to think about it. I would not have put a deposit on the vehicle had it not been for the pressuring salesman. I flat out refused to sign when I got into the "finance" office but to no end would anyone listen!!!! I still await my refund.

Dhardt, While reviewing your paperwork we realized that you purchased the vehicle "as is." The vehicle passed Pennsylvania emissions testing, the test is a Pass or Fail test based upon the reading from Pennsylvania emissions machine. When you were here on Saturday, we showed you the bolt that broke off of your exhaust on your vehcile. This caused the exhaust leak that you mention. We also showed you that the bolt had no rust and was a "fresh", recent break. We offered two soltions to correct the problem, one we would do here the second we send to Meineke. Although you purchased the vehicle "as is" we were willing to cover the cost of the repair. We also offered as a convenience to you, to trade you out of the Saturn Vue, unfortunately we had no other pre-owned vehcle that you were satisfied with. Dhardt, when you left you seemed satisfied with the options given to you, at this juncture the ball is in your court. Let us know which solution works best for you. Regards, Jim Lopez Sales Manager

Two major problems in a car that sat on your lot for three months is unlikely to go unnoticed. You claimed in the time you had it there the car never went dead, but it has died every other day since we have bought it. As far as I am concerned you can repair the electrical problem and guarantee it for the next year and reimburse me the exhaust system you claimed could not be fixed without charging me over $150 for. Time and time again I asked if you could repair it to factory standards and I was told no, and I was going to be charged money for it. I only paid eighty and it has been returned to factory standards in less than two hours. You are right that I refused your deal because I needed an SUV for cross country moving. I did not leave satisfied. I left mad and unwillingly to waste my time anymore since I had papers due by midnight the following day. Come hell or high water I will get my vehicle working as it should. Your garage insisted it was impossible to get the repair done properly and that one fix could leave us with a leak in the future. That sir is no fix at all. Apparently your people are incompetent or dishonest and I do not care which. Thank you, Ripleigh Degenhardt

Dhardt, There seems to be some confusion. After extensive conversations with the owner, it appears that you were told that there would be absolutely NO CHARGE to you for making the repairs to your vehicle. We told you that we could fix it to factory standards but we had to ask your permission before moving forward with the repair. You chose not to take our offer because you wanted to have your personal mechanic take care of it. I believe we tried to resolve the issue, but you opted not to take our offer. Now there is confusion on our part as well with why you were unhappy. We negotiated a deal on a brand new vehicle for your husband. During that time you seemed to be in good spirits with our dealership, not leading us to believe that you were upset with treatment we were giving you. We keep saying "yes" to your request and our dumbfounded by your negative sentiment towards our dealership. We sell pre-owned cars "as is" and honor anything we document before the paperwork is signed. In your case, we went above and beyond in an attempt to rectify the problem even thought you purchased it "as is" after your paperwork was completed.

As far as I am concerned you sold us a product knowing it had two major problems sir. Neither took a genius to figure out. I am not the only complaint on here of bad cars coming off your lot. My bad disposition comes from not being able to clarify what we would have to pay. We asked for everything in writing but never received everything. Our lawyer felt it would be better to have it fixed elsewhere. You advertised a car to be in working condition and it certainly is not. I will have to pay another $500 to get it to working condition. If you are dumbfounded than you sir lack intelligence and compassion. It is people like you that give used car salesmen a bad name.

It appears you have a stigma against people in my profession which is completely unwarranted. We sell thousands of cars every year and on this website there are only handful of complaints. Unwarranted stigma sir? I think not. If there had not been an electrical you would have killed my kid and then me. You're rating on this site is only good for new cars. No used cars. Many people are probably bullied into inaction by you but I am not so pacified. You certainly sold it to use inside our budget but I sincerely believe you did it to get a bad car off your lot.
