I brought my car in for transmission work that took multiple iterations to fix for a warrantee job on a new (remanufactured) transmission bought from the Columbia Ford wholesale dept. on 12/09/2025 by multiple iterations to fix for a warrantee job on a new (remanufactured) transmission bought from the Columbia Ford wholesale dept. on 12/09/2025 by a private transmission shop and installed by that shop too. Due to issues with the transmission, it was brought to Columbia Ford for service on 1/19/2026 because the transmission was under a Ford warrantee. The communication on progress was very poor from Columbia Ford, as it took 3 iterations of service with multiple loaners in between. Though the iterations of fixes, my transmission repair from private shop to return from Columbia Ford took a total of almost 6 months which is frustrating (ensure you read the edit below for a better explanation). To get a progress update, me or my wife would have to call, and the progress was never known immediately, I would need a call back which usually resulted in, 'the tech has not looked at it yet'. I understand backlogs and short staffing but if the communication were better, it wouldn't have been as bad as it seemed. Renewal of the loaners every week or two weeks without a progress update was stressful because we needed to empty out the vehicle and fuel it up before the renewal not knowing if we would be getting back my vehicle that day. Important Edit: When I initially took the survey, I didn't realize this was publicly posted, and as a consumer that reads reviews, I feel if anyone reads this, it would be best to provide additional details so a false conclusion is not made. So, this review was edited after the fact. The (new) remanufactured transmission provided by Ford (not Columbia Ford) and sold though the wholesale dept locally did indeed have issues and was not caused by install of the private shop. I understand that parts with internal complex components such as a transmission, might have had a miss when getting remanufactured. I do believe Columbia Ford's technicians are very very good and gave it the best go to fix the issue and jobs like a transmission unfortunately are complex to where its electronic, mechanical, and the full of complex hardware inside that all need to play together nicely for everything to behave properly. Jobs like this can take multiple iterations to repair before the root cause is found and following Ford's warrantee rules as they did, they could not just swap out the (new to me) transmission for another, so they needed to go the path they did. It not only frustrating for the customer, but also the dealer and technicians. I have no issues with that and feel the process was handled well. Note that the total time also includes periods where a fix was made, the vehicle returned to me, and after trying it out on the road following the transmission learning cycles, the problem still appeared. I would then return to Columbia Ford for another go at it. Everyone I delt with was very kind and considerate and from my purview, seemed to be taking the best path of action for this repair. More
