Service is terrible. Towing took 24 hours and they showed up with a car and a landscaping trailer for my M Car!!!!! It took 6 days to change a tire with no loaner car after saying that they had the tire in stock. After getting the car back, it was flat again over night, took another week to get the car. Now, with less than 100 miles on the car, the tire is bad again, hence the towing. I found out that even though you call BMW roadside, that its up to the local dealer to contract with a towing company, so not BMW’s fault. Love the car though. More
Back in December on a Saturday morning my husband brought in our car for servicing. When he made the appt. He told the receptionist in the service dept. that he would need two back tires replaced and brought in our car for servicing. When he made the appt. He told the receptionist in the service dept. that he would need two back tires replaced and to look at the emissions system that the check engine light was on. This appt was confirmed via email. When he arrived he was checked in by his advisor. He was told from time to time by his advisor they are working on the car. Three hours later, the tires were never at the dealership and had to be ordered as well as the part for the emissions. He then left with a borrowed car. We were told they were short handed by the assistant manager Joe and that he was unaware tires needed to be replaced. We received the car on the following Tuesday. I’m sorry my experience was not as positive as the other reviews. More
I have a 2019 BMW X5(worst decision ever to purchase, please heed my warning). The car just stopped working completely. Unable to drive and incredibly dangerous. I purchased it under the assumption the car would be safe to transport my 4 year old daughter, unfortunately with the car's high level of unreliability that is not the case. I dropped the car off at BMW, or rather the car had to get TOWED to BMW because it was unable to move. No loaner car was provided on day one so we were left with no means to transport our 4 year old daughter back and forth to preschool. Hands down the worst experience possible, i highly recommend you not USE this dealership COMPETITION BMW OF SMITHTOWN or atleast be warned at their incredibly POOR business practices and LACK of REGARD for ANY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS concerns. I was reached out to days later informed that this issue happens ALL THE TIME and that it is a QUICK FIX and it is COMPLETELY COVERED under the new car warranty. This is all recorded on the multiple phone calls i had with COMPETITION BMW OF SMITHTOWN. THIS WAS WELL OVER A MONTH AGO AND WE STILL HAVE NO CAR***** We were contacted a week or 2 later by BMW saying they decided not to cover this under warranty because there was some type of liquid damage(THAT WAS CLEARLY NOT VISIBLE DURING THE INITIAL DIAGNOSTIC WHEN THE REPAIR REP REACHED OUT TO ME ASSERTING THIS ****HAPPENS ALL THE TIME**** AND WILL BE COMPLETELY COVERED AT NO COST. Bait + Shift poor business practices at trying to overcharge a problem that should be completely covered that was committed as completely covered. I then reached out to customer relations at BMW corporate and the rep , ARIES(name), confirmed this is incredibly poor practice and she will work to get this resolved. I've been dealing with Competition BMW for 28 years. It's family owned business and it has always been reputable and fair. However; in recent years it has become less than an inviting atmosphere in both sales & service. This review pertains to service dept. I bought my 2018 530e at Competition in Oct 2017. The sales experience was excellent. Service up to now has been good for the warranty maintenance (which is way inferior to the warranty maint I had on a 2008 5 series) Here's the latest experience for me: -One of the original run flat tires experience a side wall split, and needed to be replaced -I fully understood I would have to pay for the replacement tire -I have the BMW Assist roadside service for towing etc -I called Competition Service and here's what happened: 1. they told me to drive the car in, which I was uncomfortable with being 30 miles away 2. when I asked if they have the tire in stock, instead of the service rep finding out he transferred me to parts 3. parts did not answer so I left a message 4. parts never called back to this day which is a week from my message to them 5. I called Service to ask if they arrange the towing with BMW Assist. He said NO 6. I had to call BMW Assist to find out if it covered towing for this issue, and they said yes, and I'd have to make an appointment 7. I called Service and got the run around regarding their appointment schedule and if I could wait for the repair when I get there. They said it could be several hours to change the tire depending on when I arrived In summary Competition left a 28 year customer to find out if the tire was in stock, plus the nightmare of attempting to arrange & coordinate scheduling between service and BMW assist. It was such a bowl of spaghetti I went to my local tire guy and he was able to obtain the tire and change it the same day.... 25 minute process start to finish AND at $70 less cost to me. IMO a high end dealer like Competition should have made all the arrangements and sent the tow truck to get the car and then return the car to us without us having to run the gauntlet. It wasn't a Geo Metro ... its a $65,000 BMW for Heaven's sakes! More
I went in to Bmw Of Smithtown To Find A car. I was not sure on which model I really wanted. Danny Gomez was my sales person. He was amazing from start to finish. BMW Competition BMW had leased me a lemon and put my child's life in danger and mine. I leased a 2018 530e iPerformance xDrive Hybrid in February 2018 and have put on about 25K miles on the car. I never abuse the car and drive the speed limit the majority of the time. This car has be in and out of the service department about 7 times for various reasons. That is not counting the 2 sets of rims and 4 sets of tires that I have had to replace on the car for about $5000. The other day I just picked up my 17 month old son from daycare and the car started having trouble accelerating and even to keep running. Luckily enough I was only a couple blocks from my home so I was able to make it without crashing into anyone or anything. I was very scared as I had my son in the car while the car was shutting down on me. I soon as I got home I called Competition BMW and explained what had happened to me in the car. They said they would send roadside assistance to come pick the car up in the morning. But that it sounded like a transmission issue. The car was picked up from my home and Competition BMW called me two days later. Telling me that it was not the transmission and in fact a complete engine failure. And that the car would need an entirely new engine. How could this happen to a luxury brand such as BMW? I didn't put so many miles in the car for this to happen.I contacted BMW of North America and worked with their customer service department diligently. As I do not feel safe in this car anymore and neither does my wife with amount of problems that it has had. They kept saying they would help me out in getting into another car as long as I stayed within BMW family. They sent me back to Competition BMW and said that they were going to work with me on getting me into a new car. All of the numbers they came up with were more money than I was spending per month with between $5,000‐$7,000 out of my pocket. I spoke with BMW of North America at length about declaring the car lemon and letting me out of my lease. I have a 100% payment history with them on four vehicles, most of the time paying a month in advance. I know that this vehicle once it has the new engine will not last more than a couple weeks without having another problem so I plan on waiting and then getting an attorney and filing a complaint with BMW of North America and Competition BMW. My advice to anyone thinking about buying BMW is to think again. The brand has gone down hill over the years and is now no different than any other brand. All they do is take you for a ride and act as if you are a pocketbook. The service department actually told me word-for-word you pay to play. More

I came in today to replace 2 blown out tires. This dealership is a complete disgrace. They are unprofessional, unwelcoming, and poor business people. The service advisor that I worked with (Ken Darmanin) was unwilling to work with me on the price of the tires after I showed him proof of a legitimate other price from a Shell gas station. This experience working with the service advisor and this BMW dealership has not only made me want to never to return to this dealer, but has made me disgusted with BMW and I will never purchase another car from them. This was my second bad experience working with this dealer. They really price gauged me. Anybody should think twice before they get their car towed to this dealership. They realize you have no other option and so bang you over the head. I spent 2 hours at the dealer and then he told me that if I wanted my car washed it would be much longer. More

It's great to have a dedicated service advisor assigned to our account that we know we can trust. Our advisor has been Jacqueline (Jackie) Ruggerio. She has been a true professional... Always recommending what services are due, what has to be done, and what maintenance can wait. She never tries to sell me anything that is not required and goes out of her way to keep me updated on the repair status from the time I arrive at Competition BMW until the time the car is ready to be picked up. She is a true pleasure to deal with, which is rare thing when it comes to auto maintenance. More
