I have reviewed your paperwork and it looks like you had a cut in the sidewall of the same tire that had the nail in it. Because of the dual damage to the same tire it was recommended that the tire be replaced and not repaired. Unfortunately, with a full-time AWD symmetrical system like that on your Subaru, replacing 1 tire while having 3 others with 26K miles on them, could over time cause damage to your transfer case and AWD system. It's our responsibility to give you all the facts so that you can make an informed decision. I'm happy that someone was willing to repair your tire despite the sidewall damage and want you to know that your safety and the long-term operation of your vehicle is our #1 concern and I'm sorry if it was perceived in any other way than that. If you should ever have any questions, just ask... We're always happy to walk customer out to the shop and take whatever time is necessary to give every customer the peace of mind that they deserve.
