Thank you for your feedback. I apologize that your 2013 Forester was so badly rotted underneath and not worth putting the $3,000 dollars of immediate work into (not to mention the additional work it would need later down he road). We always want to be sure that we do not oversell customers on vehicles that are nearing the end of their useful life. I believe that Tom had walked someone out to look under the vehicle while it was still in the air but we would be more than happy to do that again for anyone else interested in looking under the vehicle so that you can see why it would not be a good investment to put money into the vehicle. At my mechanic’s yesterday, we put the car on the lift and I saw the underside with my own eyes. It was absolutely not rotted. Minor bits of rust here and there were evident, which is absolutely normal for a Northeast vehicle from 2013. The chassis elements are fine, and the car was not even close to being as unsafe as you made it out to be. We are replacing the oil pan, the shocks, and a front ball joint. The exhaust needed just a bit of spot welding. One brake fluid line needs replacing, and some other general fluid replacement. That’s it. The mechanics I am working with were astounded at the inaccuracy of your evaluation of the vehicle, and could not figure out why you didn’t simply suggest the repairs. The value of this vehicle, even in its current condition, far exceeds the repair bill. Especially when you consider the current market, and the fact that I would need to replace it if I traded it in. From now on, I will only deal with mechanics whose sole business is repairing cars, not a sales operation like yours. You have too big a conflict of interest in getting people to trade in their used vehicles.

I apologize that we did not sell you that work and am glad you feel confident putting more money into the vehicle. As you may have noticed, there is a worldwide shortage of both new and used vehicles, so selling customers vehicles that we don't have is not our focus nor does service financially benefit from not selling you service work.
