I am currently in the market for a used car, and I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Mr. David Name in the Internet Sales department. This is the type of person who gives the car industry a b the unfortunate experience of dealing with Mr. David Name in the Internet Sales department. This is the type of person who gives the car industry a bad name, and makes people detest the car shopping experience. I simply asked David to provide me a written, itemized invoice of what the car would cost, inclusive of all fees, etc. He refused to provide this and instead insisted that I show up in person to speak with a manager regarding the price. When I explained that I wanted the invoice so that I know exactly what to expect before I drive 45 minutes from SW Miami to the dealer, he just responded with empty platitudes like “I don’t promise anything I can’t deliver” and went on about how people drive from Pensacola and further to buy from them, and how they are the number Nissan dealer, blah blah blah. All I wanted was basic transparency in the transaction, and what I get was typical “dealer-speak.” Finally, I asked to speak to a manager and he claimed that the manager Jason was busy at the moment and that he “can’t guaranty a call back from a manager” and that is “just the way we do business.” As eager as I was to purchase that specific car, after this interaction with David, there is simply a 0% chance that I would give this dealer my business. If this is how they choose to do business, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. There are plenty of other dealers in South Florida that do business ethically and will treat you with basic respect.
