After browsing the inventory online, I called and asked whether a specific vehicle was still on the lot. The salesperson confirmed that it was and invited me to come down to have a look. I stopped by about an hour later and checked in to meet the salesperson I had spoken to earlier. He started showing me around the lot, pointing out vehicles that he thought might be of interest. After he’d pointed out several vehicles that I had absolutely no interest in, I reminded him that I was there to see the vehicle I had called about. At that time he looked at me “that truck isn’t on the lot anymore.” I asked what the heck happened because we had just spoken on the phone an hour ago. Caught in a bold faced lie, he stood there with a blank look on his face and said nothing. Finally, he said “Yeah, sorry about that. Let’s see if we can get you into something else today.” Unbelievable. Even worse is that the dealership not only condones this behavior but they actually encourage it. Do whatever it takes to get a potential customer on the lot. They’ve lost my business for life and I’ll tell anyone else who’s shopping for a vehicle to stay away as well. More
