My Experience Buying a Hyundai This is second car I have ever purchased in Arkansas. First new car was a cash purchase and price was the discounted price and same price for taxing. This is second car I have ever purchased in Arkansas. First new car was a cash purchase and price was the discounted price and same price for taxing. On this car salesperson said I would not get discounted price unless I financed it through Hyundai. I was surprised when the bill of sale (that came in mail) was higher than my purchase order price. I did some research online and found out that some states are allowed to add the "rebated" amount back into price for tax purposes. I didn't like it but had signed all papers. The term rebate had never been used in our discussions with the salesman. I was also told by finance only recalls and defective parts listed would be covered in the warranty that comes with a new vehicle. I was urged to buy extended warranty so that my coverage would be extended 3 years longer than original warranty. I did not expect to be taxed on this extended warranty, since it is insurance. This confusion colored my car buying experience. I am retired military and have bought new cars in CA,VA, FL,MS, and AR. Sales and finance have worked with me to explain the bill of sale. Of course I was not able to discuss this with them as they were off the day I got my bill of sale. I talked with them after I had researched the internet. Service department has been great. More
