My husband and I were shopping for a low mile, slightly used SUV. We really liked the Infiniti QX60 and Crest seemed to have a good selection to choose from. They also seemed to have a lot of other nice used SUV. We really liked the Infiniti QX60 and Crest seemed to have a good selection to choose from. They also seemed to have a lot of other nice used SUVs so they seemed to be a great place to go to compare different brands and models. We visited several times and our salesperson Ivan seemed to be pretty clueless, but I kept thinking that everybody has to learn, so I didn't mind too much. Plus, almost every time we were there he would bring over a guy named Adrian to help. On our last visit we drove a QX60 that seemed to be the right price and had the features we wanted. The price on the listing was $37,885. After we drove it, Adrian said he felt like we could buy it for $38k out the door (vehicle, sales tax, and other fees). We had been told during the test drive that financing on a certified Infiniti was 1.9% for 60 months. We were also told that they had been running a deal for 2 years of scheduled maintenance included. My husband and I came home to talk about it and decided that it seemed like we should go with that deal. I called Ivan and told him that if we could get that price and the 2 years of maintenance, as long as we could get a decent price on our trade, we would buy the car. He told me that we would make it work. My husband took our trade back up there. We were really close on the price we wanted for our trade, but when they started working on the paperwork all of a sudden the price became $41,241.58, not the $38k out the door. And all of a sudden the interest rate on the loan was 3.99%, not the 1.9% we were told. This was not a credit issue, just them raising the rate. Plus they had move the loan to 72months so that they payment wouldn't seem out of line with what we were looking at before they added all of the "extras". They had even added $998 in dealer options to the price of the vehicle, something that should have been included in the advertised price. When my husband told them we weren't going to do the deal and got ready to leave, they didn't want to give him a copy of the numbers that they were quoting. I really wasn't that mad that we weren't going to be able to make a deal until I looked at the numbers and saw just how much they had added over what they had quoted. When I told Ivan to remove us from his list as a perspective customer because we felt that we had been lied to, he responded that there was no reason to bash them because our demands weren't met when all we have to do is be flexible. We were only asking for the deal we were told we could get right up until it was time to put it in writing. We had agreed to come up another $1,000 before my husband left, but that didn't seem to be enough. After I complained, I got a response that they would split the difference. Once again, we just wanted the deal we were told we could get and once I saw all of the things that they were lying about, I wouldn't have bought from them if they had been willing to sell the car of $100. So, buyer beware. Don't believe anything they tell you until they put it in writing. More
