Buyer Beware Took my RAV4 here for an oil change in July 2016. They gave me paperwork indicating my brakes needed work. The rep advised that next time I bring it i Took my RAV4 here for an oil change in July 2016. They gave me paperwork indicating my brakes needed work. The rep advised that next time I bring it in for an oil change, I have that work done, the brakes didn't have much life left. The next time I needed an oil change, I was back visiting in my home state, and ended up getting the oil changed there instead of in Richmond. I told the service rep (someone I had done business with extensively) about needing brake work. They checked and double-checked, and said my brakes were just fine. Fast forward a year. Toyota in Richmond is under new ownership. I needed my oil changed, and decided to give them another chance. When I left my car with them, I informed them of my past experience. When I picked my car up, they told me I had a front right wheel bearing going out. He quoted me a repair price of $575. Rather than have that done there, wary of my previous experience with them, I took it to a mechanic I know personally. He checked my vehicle over, and said my wheel bearing was fine. He said I did need an alignment and a tire rod end--repairs of maybe $225. I'm so glad I got a second opinion--just saved myself $350. Be careful if you go here for an oil change! Don't let them schedule any other repairs. More
